Roomy and well appointed pub with a good atmosphere. Unfortunately for me I can't stand Shepherd Neame beers although the Master Brew was in good nick they always give me a headache.

This place has vastly improved under the new management in the past year or so. Good non routine beers (Shepherd Neame bitters, Oranjeboom and Holsten draught lagers), tasteful, stylish and yet traditional rustic decor, open fire in the winter, bright and airy and hanging baskets a plenty in the summer. The only downer is that at times the audiovisuals can be a bit overpowering - not infrequently the jukebox has been known to be blaring at the same time as a loud sporting event on the multitude of tv screens. This is the only thing preventing this pub being our first choice for a relaxing saturday afternoon pint. If a little volume and quality control was exercised over both mediums the environment would be a lot more welcoming.
Well done to the Poyntz!

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience Musicfan09. An experiment that sadly went wrong. You are however certainly correct about the reputation for good live free music on our regular Friday night spot.
Just to wet your whistle a few of the artists lined up in the next few weeks:
May 15th - FLUKE (Blues) 22nd - Steel guitar extrordinaire PAPA GEORGE & Guest 29th - Blues & Reggae . . . they call it Bleggae with TIM HAIN BAND
Further ahead ther will be June 5th KAYTEEZ, June 19TH GARY BREWER & the GBs, Sat 11th July BAD INFLUENCE and on Aug 21 the reformed rock legends THE SWEENY
Always loads of music lovers in attendance and a full gig listingavailable on the bar . . . come on down Munsicfan09 . . . you might just enjoy it
|
went to poyntz on sunday - i thought the pub had a reputation for good quality bands. was i wrong. a band called No Nonsense - awful. The drummer was so old he looked like he died about 5 years ago - poor old sod.
The set was poorly played and there were only about 5 people in the pub. No atmosphere. Dreadful music - give it a miss.
|
Better inside than it looks on the outside, a decent pint of ale and a tidy little barmaid when I went in there. Sky Sports and a pool table, empty during the day but can't comment on the evening, well worth a visit though.
|
First visit for many years over Christmas, and the place isn't too bad! The new management (Gary) has just come in, and is making a go of it. Reasonable prices and Sky Sports. Holsten is the premium lager, or Oranjeboom (no Fosters). Pool table and plently of high chairs and tables. Biggest criticism would be the lack of carpet and curtains makes the appearance austere, and god is it echoey!
Worth a visit for the big game.
|
this pub has been done up and what a great job the new landlord and landlady have done! the food is excellent. The staff are good, i was served by Lacey and and want a great barmaid she is. the crowd are mixed age but even the younger ones are harmless enough. i will be recommending this pub to everyone.
|
Much better, the place has been done up. I will be visiting this pub now, the decor put me off before.
|
NEW FREE Official Monster Raving LIVE Music nights every Friday from 1st August beginning with the marvellous rock band BLUES FUSES starting at 9pm in the POYNTZ ARMS. Gig listings available from the pub.
|
Been/being done up - new coats of paint inside and out. New furniture etc. Maybe even a carpet?! (Not been in since it's been finished...). Think it's got a new landlay. Seems as good as ever though - still a nice pub!

beer is good, staff are great, just dont let the look of the place fool you, a bit run down, but the locals, the staff, and the company make it a great place.
|
The Poyntz Arms is now probably the pick of the pubs in Molesey. The Bell is ok too.

Orangeboom on tap!
-has to be a contender for best pub in molesey. Decent crowd of people-always friendly. Big screen on matchdays.
|
just started drinking here again after a year or two as europa is closer to me and seemed to have improved, now europa is sinking into the same black hole as the hotham and the cannon i was pleasantly surprised to see that the poyntz has kept up its friendly atmosphere and still serves a good pint..highly recommend this pub if you are a new moleseyite and want to find a proper pub with good beer.....they serve spitfire..what more do i need to say...10 outta 10
|
Orangeboom! What else does one need to say? Good solid pub. Fantastic Bikers night on thursday. They are great. One of the better pubs in Molesey now. Worth grabbing a pint while waiting for a chinese takeaway from lee fung. superb.
|
Friendly pub on the main street through Molesey. Fairly ordinary inside but the beer is good and a decent price for the area. If you want it, there's plenty going off like music and bikers nights (Thursday). It was a hot evening when we went and the doors were open - quite noisy from the road. All in all one of the better pubs in Molesey and very convenient to get to and lots of post pub food options.

Love this place. Don't go in that often but never regret it when I do. A proper pub. When I watched a couple of the England games last summer in there, and some rather rude songs were sung, the landlady told people off for bad language. Nice!
|
bikers nite on thursdays good fun! music (when on) is allways good. apart from that, nice if you fancy a snooze with a good pint!! as for people saying its rough pub then thats a no no !! never had a prob..! its one of those pubs you got to try cos u might like it!!
gary - 26 Aug 2004 22:45 |
This pup is very good it has a good football team now that barry melham has left. The team is run by peter hare, also a pool team and a darts team so it does a lot for sports fans

Mark - 25 Nov 2003 02:02 |
Efficient bar staff, good ale, friendly atmosphere, music most weekends, cleanest pub toilets I've visited! Excellent pub. Even better when the nearly completed beer garden opens.
Sharon - 24 Nov 2003 20:15 |
Its bikers night on Thursdays. Apparently quite good if you like that sort of thing
tubbygrub - 16 Oct 2003 17:13 |
Yeah pretty good. Seems to be run by Shepheard Neame, and I like Spitfire, you know. Locals told me it was a "biker's pub". They seemed to think it was a bit rough, but it wasn't. Friendly enough, beer good AND it has pool tables. I liked it.
