Nice pub which is essentially a McMullens restaurant. The food looked pretty good to me. The garden on a still June evening was beautiful. Country, IPA and AK were available. My pint of AK was nicely chilled and drinkable, but at £4.05 is on the pricey side.

Oh my word, this is a restaurant disguised as a country pub. Very bland, beer poor, staff good, thought food a little expensive though did not eat. Not a patch on the Plough in Crews Hill.

Having finished a brisk Sunday afternoon country walk at Botany Bay, we decided to drop in here for a drink before catching the 313 back to Enfield. I can only concur with a large number of the previous comments, ie that the pub is pretty bland and sterile. The description of the pub outside ('COUNTRY PUB & DINING') gives the game away. Nevertheless, they had McMullen cask ale and Country Bitter on hand-pump, and the garden was pleasant.

Gann below sums this place up perfectly. Inoffensive but characterless refurbed McMullens pub. Good beer garden though.

I am of an age to remember The Robin Hood as a multi bar country pub with a bit of personality. Yes it was dark and shabby but it had some character for those days when it wasnt good enough to drink in the garden. But that was back then and now is after the Gastro pub designers and architects moved in and ripped all that out. But for some this will not be a bad thing. The Robin Hood is now a large one bar pub focussed on food service, with three large areas around a central bar area with virtually all of it set for dining. The dcor is clean, bright and modern but largely sterile and void of any character. The food menu is reasonable and borders on being a bit pricey but is not outrageous, and has been decent quantity and quality on the couple of times I have tried it A key positive remains the outside drinking area, with the old concrete terrace now replaced by a decking area underneath two large Jumbrellas, and beyond this the very large garden remains unchanged and unspoilt. It is a McMullens house and as such usually has well kept McMullen Cask ale and Country Bitters on hand pump. But I imagine they shift more white wine now than they do cask ale. So if youre after eating and want somewhere decent to take your mum, wife, girlfriend partner where they wont find much to bemoan, then the Robin Hood fits this bill. But if your after a cosy country pub with a bit of character in which to have an evening beer, then probably best to drive a bit further out into Herts, to the pubs in Northaw for example.

McMullen......they have great well maintained pubs from the outside....I just don't know what they have been doing to the interiors .....hard, bland and characterless dining areas. Their pubs used to be so welcoming and cozy, I'm afraid they have modernised and cloned this one too...just as well that the garden remains unspoiled. Beer is quite good, although I miss the old Castle Keg from years back....I have converted to Fullers now who brew something for everyone and every season

This place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere so they obviously rely heavily on food to make their profits, but I still had a very nice afternoon, with the family, supping on the well kept Country Bitter. Mcmullen Cask ale and Sweet Chariot were also available alongside Peroni and some standard lagers.
The pub itself is a little sterile and uniform, but it is a perfect stop off for a bite to eat if passing. Id imagine that it is heaving in the summer as there is some decking out the back that leads onto a very large big beer garden. There is also a climbing tree smack bang in the middle of it that my little one enjoyed falling off several times.
Apart from one barmaid who obviously hates her job the staff were very friendly and helpful making this a nice family pub.

Mcmullems pub, so the beer is what it is, however in reasonable nick, nothing special bout this place but nothing paticularly bad either. Handy for the motorway

Stopped yesterday evening after walking part of the London Loop from Barnet. The welcome was friendly, and the beers (McMullen AK, and McMullen Cask bitter) tried were very reasonable.

recently had lunch here. Service was good and food was decent although I have to say 10+ for most dishes considering the chips are not even home made isn't great although not dissimilar to most other food pubs. Nice inside and quite atmospheric on a cold winters' day or outside on a hot summer one. Staff are helpful and friendly. Would have given a 7 but for the price of the food

I've been here a few times, usually with family. The garden is really nice, big, open and great in summer. The food used to be really good, but last time i went it had just been taken over by new management and they didn't have a great selection, but now they've settled in it might have got better. But generally quite a good atmosphere

Service was awful. Food not up to scratch I agree with Gibbo2837 your better of in the plough

Nice summer pub. Big garden with plenty of seats. Nicely decked out inside and staff were friendly. Don't like McMullens beer that much but what I tasted was ok.
|
This has just had some new management take it over, and must say the food, atmosphere and general appearance of the pub is excellent, definitely come a long way from its previous managers / owners.
|
Nice enough pub with ideas and prices above it's station. Once famously refused to serve Chas & Dave as they looked too scruffy and that frankly is inexcusable! Beer garden is great in the summer though.

This used to be the favourite place in the area for food. However, last few visits have been mixed. One time I got my main course 20 minutes before my friend. The stupid way they seperate a till for food, and drinks adds to the confusion - normally the inept barstaff manage this buy themselves. It used to be great, always runs out of food and the staff are as unhelpful as you can get. Take a 5 minute trip to the Fallow buck, and you'll be gald you did. Come on Robin hood - get your act back together - you used to be the best.
