Stayed B & B, basic, comfortable and hospitable. A good range of ales all well kept and served by welcoming staff.

Well...I am I have not a good word to say about these people...but bearing in mind the reviews policy, I will try to be careful with my language. Right from the off I got a funny attitude form the Landlord. At first I thought I was imagining it. As I meandered around with my pint of guinness trying to find a quiet place to study my book, He blocked my path and asked me what it was that I wanted. I have to be honest at this point and admit that I was, horror of horrors...a bit scruffy. I had a beard and wore an ex- army coat and, as so as far as he was concerned, definitely not the class of clientle he wanted in his nice posh pub. And as I was drifting periously close to the restuarant area, it is totally understandable that that he had no choice but to act and protect the nice respectable people eating their food. I mean...I could have been, god forbid...homeless! I sat at a table with a pint of guinness, in the quietest spot I could find, and he gave me some rather nasty looks across the bar which I ignored. Finally the landlady, who was charm itself, told me If I wasn't going to buy another drink I had to leave. I had been in the pub 50minutes.
As I understand it, a pub is a place where you can while away an hour (or two) regardless of what you spend, and expect to be treated with respect. This is not a real pub. Both the Landlord and landlady are (in my experience) be extremely unpleasent. Unless of course...if you have a lot of money.
Advoid at all costs

Pleasant enough pub, with Abbot Reserve (use with care!) on tap. Never very busy. Staff affable and helpful.

As critic AA Gill said some years ago, there are a lot of pubs in this country that don't know they are dead yet - and this is one of 'em.
It's only claim to fame appears to be that it was once allegedly the HQ of the local British National Party.

dreary Greene King warehouse of a pub.

Possibly the most miserable landlord in the UK. Stayed over and the rooms had barelt been cleaned - dirty sink, toilet and carpet. Couldn't be bothered to make us breakfast (even though it was a B&B).
