Slightly out of town, but the "super chef" makes it easily worth while. Very happy sipping good beer in the window seat.

Interesting and satisfying.‎‎

Innovative young chef puts some of the established eating places in Swanage to shame. Easily the the most interesting menus. Very well cooked, and real portions for real people, at competitive prices. Very friendly staff.

5 out of 5 stars.

Away from the town centre but well worth the walk along the sea front.
Nice pint of Bath Ales Gem.
Friendly staff who despite being busy, had time for friendly banter.
Menu/Food looked good although we didn't actually sample having already eaten.

My father-in-law and I spent a few pleasant hours over a few days in this pub where we happily drank the Forty-niner, which we both found very well kept and particularly tasty. The bar staff were very friendly and joined in our varied conversation topics when they weren't serving. We also decided to eat in the pub on our last night and we weren't disappointed. The food was good quality and good value.
Although the pub is in New Swanage, near the North beach, it is well worth a visit and if we are ever back in the area we'll definitely be going there again.

I had the privilage to play this venue at the Swanage Blues Festival last weekend & must say We had a warm & friendly welcome from the staff, landlady & the locals. There were 12 friends that followed us down we all had a fantastic meal & the beer was well kept,I hope we get invited to play here again. Well worth a visit

Was staying round the corner from this Ringwood pub and thought it a superior local boozer, situated in a handsome Victorian building. Roomy inside, service was friendly and the music on the jukebox was excellent.

Whilst the beer and the food are OK the new management have not learned how to cope when a pub is busy. We had to wait from 8 till 9:30 on 30 May for our food even though we had booked in advance. The excuse that we are busy is poor they saw us waiting but ignored us. If we had not spoke up I expect we would be still waiting. If you want slow service this might be for you but if you want good service by very good staff try the Red Lion or White Swan

The "under new management" banner is normally a sight to make my spirits sink, but here it's a sign of an invigorated pub that seems to be doing all the right things. Three beers all in good nick, a friendly welcome, local produce on the (good value) menu and a pleasant garden. Plenty of reasons to come back. So we did.

Visited in May 09 and this is a decent pub. Pint is good, interior is clean enough, nothing really wrong. You have to have a realistic expectation as there will be pupils from the local language schools plus visiting tourists however it's a decent place for a few pints. Beer garden is ok and they serve food (not tried).

We visited this pub years ago - and didn't much enjoy it! Visited it again on 15/04/2009 - now under new management - and had a really enjoyable evening. Good beer (Ringwood), fantastic food and pleasant atmosphere. Too cold for the garden but it looked great from inside!

As of January 5th 2009 the pub changed hands and is now a family-friendly, family run pub with a full refurbishment due to finish this friday, 20/03/09.

The pub has been repainted, with new carpets, seating and restaurant brought in, the menu has completely changed and all food is now homemade & homecooked. The landlord & landlady are friendly and welcoming and their daughter has a 10 year history of managing pubs throughout Hertfordshire. Her partner, the new chef, has a similarily long background in the catering industry and completes the new team.

The main aspects of the pub are still there, the 'old blokes' are still present but have taken to the new owners and are happy with the refurbishment and welcoming the fresh approach to the running of the pub.

With only 9 weeks under their belts the new owners have already been awarded full marks in their Cask Marque inspection and the kitchen has been completely revamped...as has the food service which is causing quite a stir.

With new customers coming in every day and old patrons returning after several years of disappointment the pub looks to be on the up and the new team look forward to welcoming you all soon...

Not bad at all. Ringwood on draft and quite good service. Didn't try the food (but it was Sunday and they had a carvery). Seems a place with quite a mixed clientele, from children (with parents) to some oldies.

Not a bad little pub. Local, friendly and properly priced. The place is beginning to look a bit tired though.
Beer is usually pretty good, but tried the food here on 3 occasions and found it to be either sloppy, cold or uncooked!!!

Thought I'd stumbled into the British Legion by mistake! Full of old blokes on a Sunday lunchtime but they've got to go somewhere, right? Very friendly pub dog (Bob?)

Not sure why there's no reviews for this place yet so here's my view. Beer very good last summer and well needed after a long stroll to get here. Mix of old pub charm, a local, cheap eaterie and seaside bar. I wouldn't say it had either a friendly or unfriendly fell - more uninterested!
