The best pub I've visited in ages. Joe & Sally are so friendly it's such a surprise in these days of making a quick buck. The meals and good and the menu is varied. Beers were excellent but can't remember the local pint I chose.
Parked before opening and was warmly greeted and one of the party was even loaned a hat for our walk.

Nice pint of Butcombe Original.

Recent change of Management before Christmas and am concerned to see this Pub slipping away from its very good reputation. Beer is kept well - but it is the service, bon homie, food choice (especially the choice of Specials) that has deteriorated. All is not well there, and you can feel it in the atmosphere. Always received a good welcome and attentiveness from the previous Management and their Staff (all of whom seem to have disappeared), now the Bar is left unattended on the odd occasions I have visited, with too much attention focused on a small clique of locals. Will try again, but won't bother after that if there is no improvement - Shame!

Much better after the changes behind the scenes. A lovely village pub, good atmosphere and great quiz nights.

The change of management has made a huge difference in my opinion. The menu has been simplified and dispensed with some of the more bizarre concoctions that had crept in. Food is generally good quality although one or two of the pasta dishes on a theme night we went to were pretty average. Specials menu changes regularly while the wine list has been simplified and reflects a more worldly palate. There are also 3-4 good quality local ales - Piddle, Ringwood, Butcombe and one other when last we went. Very welcoming landlord/lady and staff are attentive without bothering you. Everything a good village pub should be in my opinion.

much improved feel now following change of Landlord and refurbishment inside. Bright and welcoming.....3 very well kept ales and cracking young barmaid. Food was pretty too....

Don't be confused by the address - it's not a Blandford pub!! Had a drink and a meal the other night. Enjoyed a good pint of Butcombe, but the meal wasn't as good as I had hoped. The lamb cutlets came without anything to resemble a potato, although the sauce was quite tasty, and the baked alaska appeared to be a "bought-in" job. The service was reasonable, but I got the impression they couldn't wait for the evening to end. So still room for improvement, especially on the food side. Did enjoy the Trivial Pursuits!!

if the Landlord has changed it'll be worth trying again....one can only hope that the beer is as good as it was. I'll score it after another visit.

The new team have made a positive impact in a short period of time. We really enjoyed the lovely garden and the good food. We'll definately go back.

Has recently changed hands and we got a friendly welcome from the new owner. Nice garden, good selection of real ales and the food was good. Worth the drive out.

After several visits I won't be going there again. The pub's fine, Beer reasonable, garden good, food very good. It's just the Landlord that spoils the place. I just can deal with they way he treats his staff, he has to interfere with their every action rather than let them interact naturally with the customers. I nearly forgot, don't touch the wine unless you like it mediocre, French and badly kept. If you dare criticise the wine then expect a telling off and insinuations that you don't have a discerning palate. The pub could score 8 or 8.5 without the landlord!

It's OK. Perhaps almost a little too keen to please, to the point of making you feel a bit uncomfortable if you don't fit their idea of an ideal customer. That said the food's OK, the beer's OK, the building's OK and the little garden borders on the charming. I'll give it an 7. It's OK.
