Called in May 2012. A real Jennings pub with 4 real ales, all from Jennings and those tried in good condition. Meals were quickly served, well cooked and generous. Friendy service. Not a high class restaurant, just a good pub and very popular

My wife and I decided to visit this pub, after really good recommendations from friends and family.
We were celebrating our anniversary and requested a table in the restaurant when booking, we were not disappointed.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We were shown to our table straight away and after browsing the extensive menu it was hard to choose as everything sounded appealing, we were even trying to take a peek at the meals being served to others.
I had a Steak and Ale pie which I was informed was homemade and my wife had a Walkers Grill.
Both meals were superb, I would definately visit this pub again and recommend it. We are now looking forward to the summer when we can return and sit outside and enjoy the views.

We visited the Derwent Walk Inn on Sunday and had a delicious Sunday lunch, there is a roaring fire which gives the pub a real homely effect. I would highly recommend the Sunday Lunch and if you have room for more they serve lovely desserts. If you don't fancy anything from the menu there is a board with specials of the day. I would highly recommend a visit.

Decided to visit this pub after reading some great reviews online - really wish I hadn't bothered.
We sat in the cold conservatory - which, an hour after asking for the heating to be put on, still had stone cold radiators - to have our meal. The battered cod was well cooked but the accompanying chips were horrid and left uneaten. I had the jambalaya, the rice undercooked and the chicken and prawns tasteless.
The menu has far too many dishes on it, some overpriced. Surely a good chef would have a few dishes cooked well instead of too many cooked badly?
Then theres the service.
The staff walked past us again and again, deliberately not catching anyone's eye. It took 10 mins to get their attention to ask for a glass of water and after 15 mins of waiting for them to clear the table, we gave up and went to them instead.
Needless to say I would not recommend this pub, and have been to many more in the area that are so much better.
Don't waste your time.

Excellent food and a wide variety of ales you will not be disappointed. That said, the prices are a bit on the top heavy side.

Indeed one of the best unpretentious dining pubs in the Durham-to-Newcastle area. Friendly service, welcoming of Derwent walkers, and a patio with an excellent countryside view for summer afternoons.

Excellent food. First class service. Beautiful setting in the conservatory. An exceptionally friendly pub. Will be very happy to repeat this experience many times in the future

One of my favorite pubs in the Northeast, easy to get to via the Derwent Walk (I stay with friends also located on the walk). Lovely selection of guest ales and tolerant of (well behaved)children in the pub. Meals have been fine, although I usually just go for the company and the beer.
