Very nice pub, lovely gardens and interesting insides. Good food and good real ale - served from barrels rather than hand pumps. Had lunch there 17th June 2011

Wonderful old pub with real character and a huge roary real fire in the winter. Serves food but haven't tried any. Three real ales on offer and all in good condition. Warm welcome from the staff.

This pub was supposed to be closed yesterday afternoon, according to the published Christmas opening hours. But the bar was heaving. Many of the clientele seemed to have been there a while and were positively merry. There are 3 main rooms. 2 have access to the bar and there is a third cosy room. However, further back there is a sit down restaurant, which was not being used on our visit. Beers available were Adnams Bitter & Broadside, Woodfordes Wherry, Batemans Rosey Nosey and Hardy & Hansons Rocking Rudolph. Aspalls was the cider. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire question cards on the tables were a nice touch. However as casual visitors, we didn't feel overly welcome. It's a lovely building, but clearly a locals pub.

Fantastic building and interior, wish I could say the same about my visit. Food okay if predictable, beer was good but very expensive. Staff disinterested.

great pub, great beer, great food.

Went there for a meal on Saturday night - not bad, not bad at all. There was a good selection of ales (several Adnams beers plus Woodfordes Wherry and London Pride) but I'm afraid neither the Wherry nor the Adnam's Explorer were in the best of condition. The latter for example was flat and going off but they still continued to sell it to more unsuspecting punters who you could see were not happy with what they got. Shame!
