Two years on and this pub is as atrocious as it was the last time I had the misfortune to visit.

Just another pub with tiresome bar staff thinking they’re too good to be in the service industry and yet to wake up and realise they’re nothing more than a unhygienic lazy ass drinks dispenser.

Having to wait an inordinate amount of time to be served and then being ignored in favour of preening your peroxide destroyed greasy ass hair, is not the way forward ‘blondey’.

Walked out – 0/10.

Expensive, short pint measures.
Very busy with really bevvied upcrowds in mid twenties...Quite intinidating even early in the evening

Ticking off all the pubs in the area. Nice enough. Not sure that anything really stood out.

Stopped in here after beating a hasty retreat from the incredibly loud Ice Wharf.
Managed to get a table at 9:30 on Friday but pub still had a good atmosphere. Only ales on were Pride and Brains SA but Pride was in good shape if a bit frothy (maybe had the sparkler turned up a bit high). Staff were friendly and efficient.
Liked it.

Smart place and the food looked OK although dont know what the prices were as I was only after a beer. However out of three pumps available only one was on so thats what I had. A pint of London Pride - this pint was nothing to be proud of, I have strong doubts it WAS actually LP as it seemed to be very creamflow in texture and didn't taste anything like LP. Stuggled through it as I paid 3.80 for it and left for the Elephants Head up the road...

Smart pub with contemporary furnishings. Probably catering for the "posher" clientele amongst the hoards around Camden Lock and Market. Three beers on handpump - we tried the Brains IPA (average) and the Westerham Brewery British Bulldog which was quite tasty. The 3rd beer was the ubiquitous London Pride. The prices are steep (3.70 a pint). Didn't eat but the food looked OK and portions seemed to be fair-sized. The foreign staff were cheery enough and we had prompt and efficient service even though the girl was chatting to her mate in some eastern european language while she poured our beers. Downside - the toilets are all stainless steel and are grafittie ridden which was really wierd considering the type of customers in the bar!! The management need to clean the loos as they do let the place down.

Not a bad pub at all, staff were quick and friendly and a good range of beer available. Lots of people ordering food which shows it cant be too bad, but we opted to eat elsewhere (Ice Wharf).

This pub is abysmal.

Flat Beer but quite decent food. I like the look of this pub from the outside, quite nice inside but during the week (after work) I didn't sense much of an atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend it, however isn't as bad as others in Camden

383. The Bucks Head - Camden
I must have walked past the Bucks Head hundreds of times without ever feeling any great desire to enter. The exterior proudly displays its heritage as part of the Truman, Hanbury Buxton & Co empire but sadly that is about all that is left of its features. Inside is a typically designer orientated retro style pub with hints of an art deco reproduction. The beers were mainstream beers and lagers with 3 hand pumps; London Pride, Adnams Broadside (which was off) and one unused. Prices were pretty hefty with nothing on the price list being below 3.30 a pint). Measures were woeful and the imported barman didnt really grasp the concept of topping up. My pint was still way short AFTER it had been supposedly topped up (at my request). For foodies, there was a reasonably priced chain pub grub menu but nothing you cant get anywhere else in pretty much any Camden pub. The main attraction of the place is probably the small roof terrace that overlooks the bustling and lively Camden Market but, having now made the effort to pop inside and being distinctly underwhelmed, I think I will continue to carry on walking past in the future.

THE WORST PUB IN CAMDEN!!! Really, don't bother. Incredibly rude staff, air conditioning that drips and soaks your coat right through (when I mentioned this after to the staff they basically told me to get lost and that it wasn't their problem - after me and my friend had bought two bottles of wine there!!!). There are soooo many good places to go in Camden - this one sucks. Leave them to it, spend your money elsewhere.

They still have 3 pride pumps in here along with Premium and standard lager. There are a couple of plasma screens and some sofas towards the rear. Im not sure about the big disco ball spinning around in the middle of the pub at 5 in the afternoon.

After the barmaid had finished serving the gentleman in front of me I was the only person at the bar. The barmaid then looked at me with my tenner in hand and then walked off and proceeded to empty the glass washer. Im not sure what her problem was, maybe shes just a moody teenager. The barman that eventually served me was pleasant enough.

This isnt really my type of place and with the attitude of said employee I wont bother returning.

Went in here for the first time recently and I'd say it's a pub that wants to be a bar, but doesn't quite manage to be that "cool". Three handpumps, but all dispensing London Pride when I visited.

It's a bar really, not a pub basically. It's ok in here. Drinks are quite expensive but that's a given in Camden. Friendly staff, eclectic music and muted tvs. Always seem to have fun in this pub, always a pretty good atmosphere.

MMmmmm
What can i say, not really my thing, but certainly not awful.i use to use it in the 80's when it had a lot of character, sadly thats gone. That said, it is one of the cleanist(if not the cleanist) pubs in Camden Town, so credit for that.Barstaff are friendly as well

Not the worst pub in the world by a long shot but far from the best. Fair range of drinks and prices about par for the area, barstaff are reasonably good once you distract them from more pressing matters like discussing the previous evening's telly.
The main problem I have with this pub is that whilst from the outside it looks very much like a proper pub, and inside it has most of the paraphenalia you would asociate with a proper pub, it has the appearance and air of a brasserie or canteen rather than a pub and as such doesn't lend itself easily to settling down for a good few drinks.

Wandered into this pub with my mates, initially just to use the toilet facilities. But then found we were rather impressed by the music playing, food on offer and general overall atmosphere. Ended up staying for lunch! Very cool pub. Just wondering if anyone knows what cd they were playing? It was funky house.

Always fancied going in this pub Saturday afternoons pre shopping but it was always packed. Went in not too long ago was seriously disappointed. Dont see what all the fuss is about. Its like a hyped up student knock about place.

Bearable during the day, rubbish in the evening. The opposite to the Oxford Arms, I suppose. Could do with a damn good clean.

Chilled out daytime drinking pub, better-than-average service, friendly staff, decent prices and average pub food. The pub is total bliss to walk into from the bussle of the high street, the staff are great towards you whether you're staying or just using their toilet! It's not big, it's rarely busy, but has a special charm to it amongst it's big, comfy sofas.

Have walked past this place hundreds of times. Walked in once, and that's probably enough. "Dull" is a great word for it.
travis - 31 Aug 2004 15:04
Pleasant enough pub at lunchtime, food cheap and average, though the veggie burger and goats cheese ravioli were good. Average beer selection, they do have Bombardier but I missed it as it was at the end of the bat. Nice sofas. Friendly barman. Good music. Somehow manages to look cool despite the dregs of Camden on its doorstep..
Owen - 3 Jun 2004 09:18
Rather dull pub, but pleasantly airy for daytime drinking - you don't feel you;re in a cave. Food is chirpy chirpy cheap cheap and vaguely digestible. Selection of beer is OK.
