Over £4 for a pint of Jennings Sneck Lifter was a bit of a shock but not enough to put me off having more than one. Not everywhere serves food on a Sunday night in Haworth hence our visit here - have to say I wasn't expecting it to be quite so busy but that didn't affect the service which was spot on. Pub is big enough to accommodate drinkers and diners.

Re-visited this pub again and everything was perfect. Great big fire going ,nice atmosphere and good ales. Four of us had food and the deserts were very tasty. It was a lot more crowded than last time, but service was still good.Definitely one to visit if you pass this way.

Big pub, extensive menu, OK wine list (first 2 choices were off!). 2 guests (1 ran out while I was there, not replaced) and Jennings. Didn't really experience pub side of things as I spent all night in restaurant, but quiz was popular, and unusually wasn't overbearing for rest of pub. If you like large pubs with a trad feel then this is a good choice.

cracking big pub with brilliant decor and a real log fire for keeping warm on a cold winters day.
I dropped in just after 8.30pm on a wednesday (fish night which i didn't know about will be visiting soon for that) the bar staff seemed happy to be there and to say it was rather busy i got served with a pint of real ale nice and quickly, they had 6 real ales on and what looked like some interesting guest ales to come. The beers are a good price and tasted very crisp and fresh, the pubs atmosphere was a happy one and i did notice a very nice entiseing cooking smell upon entering.
will be visiting again soon

Believe me no-one was more frustrated than us by our coffee machine breakdown! unfortunately the company contracted to fix it couldn't fit us in till 10th nov, then they didn't turn up as call not logged correctly!!!fixed today though!hurray..we did have filter coffee available whilst our fancy machine was broke!oldhall

We must have called on bad days. The coffee machine was bust-and was still bust the following week. They had run out of the other half's fave ale, the game machine wasn't working and the pub was awash with dogs.

The food looked nice so we had a meal.It was very good, but pricey for a pub!!
Maybe everything will be working on the next trip-it kinda puts you off when they can't be bothered to get things fixed!!

Lovely building-big car park.Worth another visit for the scenery.

Large, upmarket dining pub at the bottom of Haworth's famous Main Street. It's a classic old hall building, wih a half-timbered exterior and some fine examples of exposed original stonework within, notably the doorways and the huge fireplaces, one of which has a truly impressive real fire which warms the whole room. Other than that, it's a standard, large eating pub with 2 large rooms and a bar area.
The full range of Jennings beers are available, plus Banks' Bitter and Pedigree, should there should be soemthing to cater for all palates, even if the range could be considered unadventurous. Cumberland (2.70) was in good form.
All in all it's worth a visit for a drink, despite being very food oriented it's a safe place for one and although I didn't try the food the portions looked quite impressive.

Our family use this 'watering hole' frequently, both for a quiet drink and good food, and since the new landlady and landlord took residence we have seen a considerable improvement in lots of different areas, e.g. new exciting menus, quiz nights on Sunday as well as the usual Thursday evening one, cleanliness, much better car parking in their large car park etc. etc. We get asked frequently by visitors to the area where to eat and drink and have no qualms whatsoever in recommending this delightful old eating/drinking house with friendly landlord and landlady and their staff

Very much food orientated with a strong smell of vinegar and cooking. Excellent pint of Jennings Bitter and extremely friendly and helpful landlord/manager.

Recently changed management, and sadly the worse for it. Great pub that is let down on food side - recently introduced new menu with over inflated food prices with reduced portions that leave you hungry. And probably the worst price in Britain for draught Peroni - 3.70 a pint!!!

Extremely friendly barman made this pub, which is a typical slightly upmarket Jennings pub that you might find in the Lakes. The Jennining Bitter was OK, but secondary to the pub.

Great old pub, good food, good beer

Good pub, quality ales and good quality food (if a little pricey as others mention).

Ah well - the trick is to be served by the landlord himself! He sold me a pint of Cocker-Hoop swiftly and it was in good condition. Lunch was waitress service, and on my visit was very prompt, no hanging about. Pint and a meal in 45 mins. Mind - I take an early lunch, and by 13:00 on a Saturday as I left the place was beginning to fill up...

Hmmm, I think everybody who has contributed so far is right! Bar staff are sweet but very variable in competence. Beer is fine, food perhaps a little overpriced and the menu contains ludicrous phrases like 'chipped potatoes'! Off peak I reckon a great place for a drink, it's a characterful building with a handy car park.

A splendidly sturdy old manor house that looks built to withstand a siege. Seven real ales, five of them from the Jennings range; my pint of Cocker Hoop was excellent. Only downside is that it's in the Bronte tourist hotspot of Haworth - my own excuse for being there is that I took a trip on the Worth Valley Steam Railway prior to attending a rugby match at Keighley in the afternoon - and by 12.40 on a February Sunday it was getting pretty crowded, so I should think it gets rather hectic to say the least in high summer.

Just been back for another visit over the Xmas hols. Had to tell the barmaid no less than 4 (four) times what I ordered. It wasn't even busy or noisy, she was just not listening. Then I had to get her to top up the short-measured pints (even considering the traditional "head"). After a few hours we had a table full of empties, and none were taken away until much later. Beer, however, was fantastic. And that's kind of the point.

Really popular pub, rammed at weekends. Used to be owned by Jennings Brewery of Cumbria. Strikes a good balance between an eating establishment and drinking one. The pub as it is now is due to a high quality refit a few years ago... no expense spared and it shows. The Old Hall itself is a beautiful venerable building (just check out the studded front door!) and the interior is much more sympathetic to it than it used to be.

Went for a quicky there last year at about 6 one wet evening - finally left at about 11-30
Several top pints of Theakestons - If ever you were to get snowed in - this is the place - bar staff were excellent - Quiz night was very good although we got 39 out of 50 and were last by miles

Overall Good Night out !

You`d be expecting to fall into a timeteam trench after leaving this pub as the fireplaces, doorways, nooks & crannies leave any building enthusiast scratching their head whilst drinking their pint...I had a cracking pint of IPA whilst working out which door Tony Robinson would bound out of & whether it was Rowan Atkinson or Phil Harding that was with him......Then again maybe I`d just had an 8 over the 1!
