Poped in for a quick beer yesterday lunchtime. Being the Fullers' pub that it is I tried the standard London Pride. the beer was in top notch condition. But being a managed house you wouldn't expect anything less. This really is a very nice hotel. Can't recommend it enough.

My husband and I have just had a brilliant weekend here. Room and bed so comfortable that we overslept! Magda and the staff were very friendly - we even got to choose which room we preferred. Breakfasts were literally just what we fancied and thanks for the great staff suggestion of a bacon and mushroom sandwich. Judging by the cars in the car park the Sunday carvery is very popular and we certainly enjoyed our evening meal - beautifully cooked duck and pheasant and delicious puddings. Real Ale and good wine. Surroundings a perfect mix of old and new. Excellent Service.

I'm genuinely puzzled by some of the reviews on here. Perhaps the pub is under new management?
We've eaten there 3 times in the last 6 months and have found the food to be top class. My wife fancies herself as a bit of a foodie and after our first visit, she insisted we revisit with some friends, and had another really good evening.
We also have been there with elderly in-laws for Sunday lunch, and again were very impressed with the food quality, the presentation. and service.
I would strongly suggest pepole give it a go rather than be out off by the reviews. We'll certainly be going back.

I stayed at this pub for a long weekend in June when i arrived i was greeted warmly by the new manager Laura, over the course of the weekend they were very accomodating to my needs the ale was amazing as was the food. The new menu has a choice of pub favorites to something a bit different, i ate in the pub 4 times on the evening and every mrning for breakfast every meal was amazing with perfect presentation i would recomend this picturesq pub to anyone who likes to get away from it all, wants a warm and friendly pub and great service i left planning my next visit. Things are definatly looking up for the hinds head and laura and Mark the head chef are an asset to this community welldone on an amazing pub.

Have to agree about the food being poor. I also saw one of the 'chefs' wearing jeans that were the modern type that hang down like builders normally wear. Had I noticed this earlier there is no way I would have ordered any food. I think the management really ought to make sure that people handling food are wearing the correct clothing.

Certainly wouldn't recommend this pub. Lovely interior, but disastrous meal. We took friends out for lunch, and the food was bland, uninteresting, poor quality, vegetables were raw, and the chef knew nothing about presentation - we will not be returning. I suppose the alarm bells should have rung, when we did a 'reccy' the previous night, and there was only one couple eating. There were only two tables of two occupied, when we had our lunch on the Friday. Do they not wonder why nobody eats there? My husband did complain profusely to the manager, who removed all food from the bill, but it was embarrassing, when we had taken our friends out for a treat!

This was terrible food no taste poor quality and a complete rip off. The pub looks lovely but the food doesnt even match a Harvester. I had the bread and olives which im sure was part baked bread. I was chewing for ages not nice. Plus they charge you for this. The fish cakes were the worse i have ever had i wish i stayed in and had M&S ones fresh with a lemon sauce. They were suppose to be smoked Haddock i can honestly say i could taste anything apart from Fat /oil. They only come with lettuce that was it for about 7 the chips were cold but these are a side order for 2.50. I would never go back there if you want nice Fish and chip's go to The Boot @ Standford Dingley much better quality.

Unfortunately, the food is average so best stick to drinks only. Interior is perfectly welcoming, as are the staff when we visited on 10th April 2008. Expect to pay 10 for a pint of London Pride and glass of wine.

Don't be fooled by the outside good appearance of this pub/hotel. Went for a meal with my girlfriend and was one of the worst I have experience. Chips burnt, overcooked and served cold, fishcakes deep fat fried and soggy, a poor steak, soggy salad and staff who seemed to find this entertaining! 2/10 at best

Been twice now. First time the steak was excellent but hardly any veg which was a shame considering the price. Went back a couple of weeks ago and the food was absolutely excellent and the service v good. Good atmosphere, friendly and attractive interior.

Overpriced poor food
|
as with many of the pubs in and around this area it has reasonably well kept real ale, has a standard pub menu that is over-priced and cooked and served to a standard that really doesn't merit its price. But is OK in an inoffensive kind of way. Nothing to go out of your way for.

Good looking place from the outside.
Beer is generally good, but as a "Hotel"/restaurant the food sucks.
Popped in on 4 occasions for lunchtime food. Burger on one visit was good, but all other times the meals were poor - a combination of poor service and poorly prepared food: for the prices you would expect decent cuts of meat professionally prepared and served.
