Been closed for a number of years now - gutted as I really like the place! And the sausages!!!

I went to visit last week and the premisis are now a (sh)Italian resturant.

For those using journey planner to get here the postcode is actually WC2H 9LD.

Really noisy in here too. I was here for a drink with a friend a couple of months ago and we ended up practically shouting at each other to be heard.
|
Good beer, awful venue. What is it with microbreweries and industrial surroundings? Just because you brew on the premises doesn't mean I want to drink in what looks like a factory. It's like going to a steakhouse made to look like a meat processing plant.
The toilets are confusing as well, as they label the ladies "Herr", which of course means man in German, and I tend to associate Bunkers with Germans (or at least ONE german).
It's a good place to stop in for a swifty while the missus is blowing your credit limit in Neal's Yard, but I'd never settle down for an evening in here.
Oh, and I love photos of this place! Minutes of mind numbing entertainment flicking between the two. Doors open/doors close/doors open/doors close.

Agree with the comments below about the Soho Red. Worth popping in if you're in the area, but I do agree it could do with a makeover - the layout is all wrong and means that there's virtually no atmosphere at all. And the prices are not what you'd call competetive.
|
Industrial style basement bar with glowing copper brewing equipment behind glass at the end of the canteen style room. Not an attractive place, and no atmosphere, so the beer is the draw. So, it's a shame then that the beer is badly brewed lager. This place is a big miss.
|
The Soho Red, a dark ale with lager properties that they brew on site, is brilliant worth every penny. The Freedom Pilsner - not brewed on site - is not so good. The food looks pretty poor. The venue isn't great but if you get the leather sofas at the far end its great.
Give it a try for the Soho Red. I am giving this 8/10 just because I love that beer so much and this is the only place in the world you can get it!

Bar is ok, quite good on a Friday, very chilled when inside.
|
Very good little place, definetely better midweek when its the quieter crowd in [mostly student].
Good beer [which sometimes seems to be stronger than usual some nights!], pleasant [fit] barstaff, and not as horrifically expensive as some places that can't justify it.
I happily recommend it to anyone who likes a nice quiet social beer in friendly surroundings, as opposed to the types who like getting smashed, fighting with a lampost, and vomiting in a bin.
That is all. Beany hath spoken.

i go here ofetn during the day for a chill out. the beer is really great, the staff are helpful (and cute) and i have never had trouble finding a seat. a nice place to get away from the mayhem of covent garden if you need a break!

Went on saturday. most tables in the place are booked, and as it isn't very big even couples struggle to find a place to sit. Drinks other than beer aren't cheap, but then beer is the point of the place, and they do have a good selection. Forgetable place.
|
Went there last night, and although some may deem it a bit expensive, it does have Steins! Nice selection of platters, but no sausages. And it's supposed to be German? Worth a visit, especially as it's full of women.

These pictures dont do this bar justice - a nice little bar just metres away from the hell of Covent Gdn, refreshingly quiet early doors (while the shopping crowd mills about at street-level) and nicely lively later on.
The Pilsner's a lovelly fresh pint - and 2.90 for a premium lager in this location cant be argued with - too many times I've paid that for a tepid Fosters in similar circumstances.
|
Bit quieter??? It was well loud when I went in on a Friday night recently. Good beer though.

bit quieter than lots of covent gdn bars - good beers and good food!

Go for the football, big screens at either end but I found the Weiss beer pretty insipid, which you don't want at 3.40 a pint.
Ok bar but let down by the media-scum clientele who, despite have career's that essentially make them the dung-beetles working on the spoor of society, they think they are the canine's centre-piece. Were you there last night, guffawing, sneering and caning the money you are over-paid? Then I mean you, you filth.
|
Pleasant bar with its own micro-brewery, food looked good although I never actually had any, two large screens, which can be seen from all angles makes this a good venue for watching sports. Considering the awful tourist infested pubs nearby a very nice escape from that if you find yourself in Covent Garden.

I watched the football here last night. Great! The screens are incredibly clear and because of the layout of the bar it is always possible get a clear view.
