Had the pub to ourselves on a sweltering Saturday night - everyone else was in the attractive beer garden. Interior is inoffensive but unremarkable - low-ceiling and whitewashed faux farmhouse walls adorned with fake horse brasses reminded me of the Seventies. Beer much better now than then, however: Doom Bar, Adnams Broadside and Brains Bitter all well kept. Service from the three barmaids very pleasant and polite.

A good local pub with an excellent little garden. It's a lovely place to spend a summer's evening. As an ale drinker, there are normally 4 or so real ales on, a couple of which change each time I go. Seems to be national selections of beer rather than smaller local breweries, but the ales are always served well and in good condition (turnover of stock is fast).

The staff are pleasant and friendly, and they have 2 nice jack russells running around. They seem tolerant when we turn up with our baby too.

All in all, a pretty and pleasant local pub.

The beer range isn't exceptional but the quality is, and its a worthy Beer Guide regular, as well as being a cosy, traditional pub where well behaved children aren't treated as lepers.

Was disappointed at the choice of ales, all a bit samey. Had the Adnams Bitter which was fine . Looking at the coming soon I may have been unlucky but nothing persuaded me to stay for a second pint. nothing wrong with the pub though but also nothing to make me rush back.

this pub is a cosy local. However is a bit clicky and the landlord is a nosey foul mouthed individual who has interrupted my friends private conversations a couple of times. He has increased the prices and an Italian Lager is now 4 a pint!! When questioned my friend was directed to the price list where it suggested writing to the local MP. There is also a rude message in the toilet asking people to 'Aim straight and that it isnt F@ck@ng rocket science.

Still a pleasant, welcoming pub, but , must have changed hands since I was last here, as I was sure they used to do food. Not even a sarnie now.

A brilliant pub, we discovered it in the 'Good Beer Guide', or else we wouldnt have known it existed as its off the main road. A decent selection of real ales included Sharps Doombar and Elgoods Cambridge Bitter. A great beer garden, it would have been even better had the weather been warm, but hey! it is September in England! One thing - make sure you dont crack your head on the low door lintel heading to the Gents/Beer garden! Make sure you say hello to the resident cat and dog, the Jack Russell was busy protecting a salami when we visited! No, I arent makint that up.........

Called in a couple of weeks ago with friends from(literally) across the country - Thursday night was (just) warm enough to sit outside in the wonderful garden(shelters, heaters, smokers!!) beer, staff ands ervice all first class - so much so we were back there on the Friday - and will be back again

Attractive, low ceiling local with four drinking rooms, three of which are served by the central bar.The interior is very traditional with a real fire in the main saloon.Five handpumps including London Pride,Spitfire,Adnams Bitter and Courage Directors all in good condition.Beer range varies and next up were Doom Bar,Black Sheep and Woodforde's Wherry but the ales served here do appear to come from a distributors list, hence a lot of national brewers ales and few from local micros.Musak also played too loud but these are minor criticisms of a decent pub.Very lively Jack Russell lives here !

we paid for food and drink for a christening celebration at this pub. We were very disappointed with the service. They were unwelcoming and we felt as though we were a nuisance. It spoilt our day. This is a pub which is really only interested in its regular drinkers. If you are a regular then it is fine. If not then you probably shouldnt bother.

Only 5 minutes walk from the town centre. This pub has an excellent selection of well kept ale and you are not deafened by load music. Local and friendly clientele this pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

A little off the beaten track, but worth the diversion.
A well kept pub with a good selection of beers and a friendly atmosphere.
Well worth a visit.
