The nearest proper pub to Eastleigh's football ground, this Greene King pub is still a good 10 minutes walk from the ground.

An extended pub that looks like an old cottage and out building merged together, to the front is a large raised decked area with a white Pickett fence surrounding it.

Inside the pub is long with the short bar straight in front as you enter, there's seating and dining areas either side. Disappointing to see the 8 hand pumps had just 4 ales on, not much to choose from so it was a pint of GK IPA for me.

We took our drinks and sat outside as the weather was good.

Only stayed for 1 pint as getting another beer was a nightmare, 2 bar staff and a gaggle of locals all claiming they were next, this done my head in so we left and headed back to the 'spoons by the station.

Scored down on slow poor bar service

I agree with the previous contributor, so basically nothing has changed over the past few years. A Greene King managed house serving a 'ping food' menu. However, in it's defense, the beer was outstanding. It was in pristine condition. Try the Exmore Beast, it's a beauty.

The Cricketers is close to where I work so I was looking forward to having a decent boozer near the office. As usual in Britain these days, generally you are going to be disappointed if you want a decent 'pub' experience as this is being replaced by the corporate brand image of everything being the same. The Cricks actually isn't a BAD pub, there are a couple of decent ales on and they seem well looked-after - I was only there early so will need another visit to see how it copes under pressure. As usual though, too many large plastic menus and people sitting on high-stools around lacquered tall tables waiting for microwaved chain grub. Average.

This pub has been known to my family for years. It's been through some ups and downs, but is currently most definitely on an up. A well-kept, if mostly unchanging, range of beers, mostly from the Greene King stable, but also normally Ringwood Best. Friendly, hard-working landlord and staff. Food normally looks decent, if unspectacular, although I haven't eaten there for a while. A wide range of events as well, including a weekly pub quiz and two beer festivals at Easter and over the August bank holiday. It's a big pub, so at off-peak times, you might find yourself rattling around, and the atmosphere might seem a bit dead as a result, but I'd definitely recommend it!

Not too keen after the re-fit although is in a good location if you are heading to the football after a couple of pre-match pints

Heavily modernised Greene King pub opposite Chandlers Ford golf course. A fairly extensive range of ales for the GK chain, with Olde Trip, Morland Original, GK IPA, Abbot and a couple of guests. Outside deck area is a pleasant space and is probably worth a punt as there are very few other pubs worth recommending in the surrounding area. Not far from Eastleigh FC.

Visited last Saturday lunchtime and ordered a Pint of Morland Original as well as a half of Olde Trip. Sadly I had to send the MO back as it was either off the top or at the end of the Barrel. This was replaced after the showing of my CAMRA Membership with a pint of Morris Mayhem from the Westgate Brewery which must be ANOTHER of GKs acquisitions as it isn't mentioned in GBG 2009. Not a fan of the said GK chain as a proper Real Ale drinker, but the service was friendly enough. Prices seemed ok too.

Good beer, food generic chain pub food variable quality (pubs seem to hide their branding nowadays). Service ranges from very friendly landlord to dizzy waiting staff members. Only pub in Eastleigh you won't stick to the carpets.

Recently refurbished, nice beers with a recent good beer festival. Staff are very friendly along with the landlord. Good food.

This pub changed hands a couple of years ago (2000-ish) and has now lost of a little of its character. That said, the range of real ales is excellent as ever, and the current owners are trying hard to create a welcoming atmosphere. Popular with the scooter and bike brigades in the summer. Plenty of outdoor seating. Still recommended.

The Cricketers used to be a great Pub. Although I haven't been in since 1990. I now live in Detroit, USA.

Greetings to all my old friends
