Coaching inn on the A6. It has a bar area at the front, with separate dining areas and function rooms to the side. As a Charles Wells pub, the ale range wasn't the best. Wells Bombardier & Eagle IPA were on, alongside Courage Directors & Black Sheep Special Ale. It took a while to get served, despite there being lots of staff seemingly doing nothing. I read that the garden can be nice. But probably not in the driving rain! Disappointing.

Charles Wells beer. Lovely pub with beer garden sloping down to the river. Sadly I cannot recommend the food as it tends to be pretentious, overpriced and rather disappointing (e.g.badly cooked 'hawian' hamburger GBP 10.50).

Brilliant! Best Christmas party ever! Warm and cozy with real log fireplaces, beautifully decorated, attentive staff, nice buzz with all the other diners and gorgeous food. I had perfectly cooked sole stuffed with crab and topped with caviar then, whisky and honey creme brulee to finish me off. How decadent is that?

This is without doubt one of the best pubs I have ever visited. The waiting staff were friendly and really helpful. Although we were informed of a wait the staff kept us informed and before we knew it our meals had arrived, no such wait which was really nice! The food however was completely worth the wait, the homemade chicken liver and vintage port pate was absoultely amazing, it had such a unique taste and was completely satisfying, my partner had one of the falcons soups of the day, homemade which was an added treat. My main course; the pork belly was succulent and rich in flavour! My partner had one of the vegetarian options; the wild mushroom gnocci, the sauce was thick and creamy and very moreish! The home made treacle sponge was light, and just what we needed to finish off a superb evening. Overall a 10 out of 10 for the falcon! food and service!

Staff a little inexperienced but not unhelpful but owner/manageress made me feel like a common criminal. I had asked if I could open a tab as I was in the garden with my wife and 2 kids (and dog); The manageress/owner asked if I was in the garden, I replied yes and she quickly and rather bluntly said she could not. I have to say this was the first time ever I have been refused a tab, but that didn't bother me so much as the fact that It was said it almost seemed with distaste? I had recently moved into the village and had hoped this would be my local but I think I will walk to the next village. Have since spoken to a couple of locals who affirm that although the food is nice, they wouldn't drink there. Shame as I was looking to meet my suppliers there occasionally for lunch.

Outstanding! Still recovering from the big helpings of Sunday roast at The Falcon last weekend. Meat cooked to perfection and - if you can believe it - unlimited veg! Lovely restaurant and great value for money when you consider it's just 10.

Great pub! friendly staff. and good food.

Definitely one to miss! From the dirty table we were shown to, the long drawn out wait for our menus, starters and main courses, the fact I had to beg for cutlery, the fact my main course was luke warm and my husband's beef was so thin you could practically see throuth it meant it was one of our worst eating experiences.

On the plus side it's a lovely location and you can fish on the river at the bottom of the garden. The first of two negatives is the standard of the beer. The second the overpriced food. This pub markets itself as a gastro pub but if that means small portions of average food then I'd rather not bother. Don't pay 13 for a piece of chicken thigh! You won't get fat eating here but it could seriously damage your wallet.

Has just changed hands, the food was nice, but the service was terrible. We had to ask for menus and keep trying to get staffs attention to order more drinks!!

Lovely location with the beautiful old building and river closeby. Been here many times and have always found the food to be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it is absolutely superb and then the next it is less than average. Would agree that it is expensive.

Food is overpriced and you don't get much for your money, although in a beautiful area, riverside setting, and lovely decoration inside and out. Bar staff weren't brilliant although food staff were better.
