1) Never come across stroppy staff 2) Never smelt bad 3) Never had a bad pint 4) Never had a cheap pint Decent atmosphere I'd say. Haven't eaten there. Probably best to judge for yourself. It's over the river from the bus station, and to the right, across the car park from the Picturedrome.

This must be the worst pub in Holmfirth. Stroppy staff and an extremely rude landlady. Food cold and bland, waitress not interested in service. So much for a warm yorkshire welcome. Definitely won't be back

Seriously awful. If you're a real ale drinker (ie the vast minority) you might like the beer, otherwise you won't. The serving staff are horribly stroppy and the food...oh God where do I start... Served cold. All food is simply served cold. How can you get nachos wrong? How is that possible? Pitta bread and humous...if all you have to do is defrost it (don't you just love british cuisine) how can you get it wrong? The bread was cold and barely defrosted, the humous...I wouldn't have thought you could get that wrong. Awful, tasted of nothing. I've been sick and produced better food. To be honest, this was the worst pub I think I've ever been to. It's not even well located. Holmfirth promises so much but actually isn't that nice...prams in the river etc...but Herveys pub hammered the final nail in its coffin. Hopefully it'll be closed soon.

Like The Nook this place has a bit of a weird smell when you walk in the door, but that's about all there is to compain about - the beer quality is excellent and the beer range is a little different to a lot of other places which is good. Food is erved but I didn't have any so I can't comment on what it's like. The outside seating area is nice enough when the sun's shining although it is close to the road. It does feel more like a bar than a pub.

THE best pub in Holmfirth as the beer quality is so consistent. At the moment they are revolving 2-3 Copper Dragon ales with Taylor's Landlord and Black Sheep. Whilst I've never been a great fan of the latter the others are superb and in the 5 years I've been frequenting never had any quality problems. There's good wines and lager choices incl bottled too and the service is always good - unlike the Farmer's Arms with its not-so-welcoming landlord which is a 10 min walk out of the centre (not worth it for such poor customer service).

Well worth seeking out! A small pub (not sure why it's called a wine bar) but very friendly and welcoming. 3 or 4 top-class real ales on handpump (3 Copper Dragon + Black Sheep). The Copper Dragon Golden Pippin has a unique apple tang and is worth seeking out (the type of hops is a well kept secret). Very sheltered outdoor seating area, with umbrellas and canopies + radiant heaters in the winter - for smokers and those who prefer to be in the open. Food is keenly priced (I haven't tried it as I'm only here for the beer!) though it seems to be more in the 'tapas' spirit than the usual 'pub grub'. There is piped music (something I don't like) but not unduly loud at most times. The large white pub dog usually blocks the entrance - so don't fall over him! Probably the best pub in Holmfirth.

Fantastic pub. By far the nicest in Holmfirth. Nice outdoor area for summer and cozy interior for the rest of the year! Good choice of real ales. Excellent, reasonably priced bar food.

Best wine bar I've ever been in - 4 real ales from Copper Dragon and other local small brewers. Also a good range of speciality beers.
