My bed for the night on day 4 of the Inn Way.
On the beer front, it was a couple of real ales. Hartleys Cumbria way was well kept.
Food was excellent - can only think they have had a change of ownership since these reviews.
Rooms decent. Staff very helpful.
Recommended.

Would concur that it is the poorer of the two pubs in Boot. Ale was oaky but we just didn't fancy eating here nor staying for another drink.

A few of the people I talked to whilst on a week long visit recently said that they tried this place, but then never went back again. One couple who were actually staying here went to the Brook House down the road each night for food and drink. As I was staying opposite I thought it would rude not to pop in and see if they were right. I can only say - yes they were. Poorly kept and served beers, not one vegetarian item on the menu and poor staff. Like most other people, I'd say go to the Brook House instead and save time and money.

The quietest of the three on our Beer Festival weekend visit, but still far busier than the staff at the Brook House had led us to believe! Decent ales on including the house Robinson's range, friendly staff.

I visited the Boot Inn several times during the June bank holiday. Whilst I can see why some people think it was lacking in atmosphere, that's mainly because on my visits it was mainly couples or small parties quietly chatting away to themselves. I myself was a sole walker after a pint at the end of the day so I was more than grateful I could hear myself think! That said, I wish they'd not had the TV on. I do dislike TVs being on when no one is watching.
The staff were friendly and welcoming the manager certainly very chatty. The food was good, the beer well kept. The snags for me were that food wasn't served on a Sunday evening (which was the first time I tried to eat there.) A lot of people were turned away on that visit due to lack of food. Also, if you want food you'd better get there early the next night they'd stopped serving by 7:45 which seemed excessively early.
But this isnt a bad pub. Compared to Brook House down the road which was very full of large dining groups on every visit, I know which pub I prefer!
Robinsons are looking for a new tenant for the pub. Should you fancy it.

Average Robinsons beer served very, very, very slowly. We actually had to walk round the place to find someone to serve us. Very trusting as the till was open and there were several people in the bar. Nice outdoor area but I wasn't impressed. Walk the 100 yards or so to the Brook House for a much better experience.

I live near a Robinson's pub and I cannot stand Robinson's beer. No matter how many times I try it or how many of my frriends like it, it just always tastes of detergent to me. So imagine my horror when away for a weekend in the Lakes, eagerly approaching what I'd been told used to be fantastic little pub (though the reccommender hadn't been in quite a while), and I rounded the corner to see "Robinson's" writ large above the door. Thank the lord for guest ales is all I can say! The guest ale was great, the food was fantastic. It very much looks to cater for the walking family market (guess it's good business sense out there), which is a shame in a way as I was in the mood for some kind of cross between a quiet Old Dungeon Ghyll (if such a beast exists) and a noisy Clachaig Inn (which definitely does). Still considering it's a Robinson's, I loved it!

Gone seriously downhill since Robinson's took over, only worth using if your hiking with sprogs/dogs or like sitting outside, shame it used to be really good.

It is many years since I last visited the Burnmoor as it was; the lack of a cumbrian beer is a great shame. The Robinsons beer on offer was unexciting. Not a patch on other nearby pubs.

Friendly Robinson's pub in a stunning setting. Good beer garden for the summer and cosy bars for other times of the year. Has satellite TV - worth knowing in this neck of the woods!

Now known as the Boot Inn. This was a superb pub (free house) but has now been bought by Robinsons and new licencees installed. Wait and see.
