Bell, Kitchen and Bar, Waddesdonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Apologies. Ignore my previous review - this was the pub in Waddesdon that was open. It is now called the Long Dog and has a funky interior (good luck in finding the toilets) and serves tapas. The staff are very friendly. It has an interesting selection of real ales too - Leighton Buzzard Borrowers Bitter & Restoration Ale & Rebellion Zebedee. A 6/10 and I'll put my original review against the correct establishment!

I was amazed to find this pub was closing at 5pm on a Bank Holiday Monday. We followed another family in and whilst they were served, we were told that they were closed. I guess you have to be in the know. The barman/landlord said he was locking up. But after visiting the Lion and returning past the Bell, there were still people drinking outside the front. Very strange opening times and discrimination against non-locals means I have to give this a 0/10, as a beerintheevening is not possible unless you are 'in the know'.

A modern take on the country pub in this manorial Buckinghamshire village. Although the website, menu and some of the styling give the impression of pretentiousness, this is outweighed by a cracking ale selection (local brewery XT’s ‘14’ an exceptional bonus), friendly staff and a functional layout. Even the small TV tuned into BT Sport for those of that ilk and the Vampire Weekend tunes in the background didn’t detract from the trappings. Certainly the better bet of the three choices in Waddesdon.

Now called the LONG DOG Much improved - good range of local beers and food.

We visited recently for lunch, disappointed by the bar man, very unfriendly, giving no information to the food, dressed inappropiately for a country pub, think he was on his way to a festival, the whitebait was good. Service, barman and atmosphere very poor.

Great little place, staffed by helpfull and friendly people. Beer (Tribute) was in superb condition, as was the Aspalls Suffolk Cider. Welcoming and cosy, but contemporary at the same time, not at all "up itself" like some eateries can be. The food is excellent all good, but do have the bucket of chips with watever you choose, they are awsome.
