Had a bit of time to kill about 16.30 yesterday so ventured in for a couple of pints. I was made to feel welcome by the staff and a couple of the regulars that were there were friendly and even allowed me to join in their conversation a couple of times so all in all a good friendly pub that I would visit again when in Portsmouth

Always entertaining! Staff friendly, locals OK when they're sober and hilarious when they're not.

Rough, plain, if you must go in have one then leave far better places nearby!

Was in Portsmouth last weekend shopping. Stopped off for a beer here. We sat in the 'no smoking' area whereupon the barmaid decided to take her break and sat down on the next table - and promptly lit a ciggi. Great no smoking policy, eh?
Below average pint, loud , smokey bar. Kitchen door was ajar - food service had finished - we left after 10 minutes as the stench of stale fat from the frier was overwealming - although at least it masked the barmaid's cigarettes!
Poor.
