This pub is a bit of an anomalie as it looks and feels like a traditional olde worlde village pub however it is surrounded by the Poyle Industrial Estate just off of junction 14 of the M25.
Inside is cosy enough with low beam ceilings and basic but clean furnishings. It's a GK pub so will never set the world on fire in terms of beer range but usually have a couple of guest ales and serve GK IPA on keg. The pub has a spacious garden with grass however, again this is somewhat ruined by its location next to a busy roundabout with multitudes of parcel vans and container lorries chuntering by.
I had a pint of Ruddles on my last visit. Have never eaten here but the food I've seen come out looks good but then it should be with the prices they charge. Again my pint cost the best part of £4 which I do think is a bit steep. This pub always seems empty early evenings however, it may get busier later once the people who work at the freight companies turn out. I do feel they could do with dropping their prices a bit and this would get them more punters.
All in all not somewhere you'd go out your way to visit but ok if your in the area. Location not great but that's not the pubs fault and in all honesty the pub looks like it was there long before the industrial estate

Redirected here from The Five Bells which is temporarily not serving food. I must say the food here is excellent - and very reasonably priced - even if there was a slight delay (which they apologised for) because they dropped my meal first time round and had to cook me a second one! My quibbles are firstly that most of the time I was here there was no-one manning the bar at all, because most of the staff were sitting in the garden enjoying the sun. And secondly the barman recommended Wherry bitter from Norfolk and offered me a sample; I liked it and ordered one, only then discovering that it's £5 a pint!

Disappointing ... very disappointing

This pub is local to us and as CAMRA members we thought we would try it out now refurbished and is on the way home from our sons place. Initial impression good dcor, couple of reasonable Ales, decided to eat along with our Granddaughter, bit of a mistake Im afraid, the menu is a bit too extensive & varied and they were by 7:30 struggling to cope. My Pad fried Sea Bass was one very small and slightly over cooked fillet, my wifes burger was okish but the baked beans were in a pot and congealed and my granddaughters Chicken Goujons were two very small pieces of chicken, loads of chips & beans. Dessert was not much better waffles were burned in places & a number of the strawberries had brown areas on them. Verdict overpriced for what we expected & disappointing, shame because they are trying, restrict the Menu a bit and they could make a go of things. RKR West Drayton

I have been in the UK for 3 weeks and now en route back to South Africa I was booked in the Hilton T5. Saw this little pub on a walk and went in for dinner. What an awesome pub man, great food and everyone was very friendly. Highly recommended and thanks to jamie and others, was a great evening and will tell everyone I know that is coming via Heathrow to pop in for good food and at very good prices. The hotel I am staying in the food and drink is ridiculously expensive so this was a huge relief. Thanks for a great evening Judgie.

Great Pub had the most incredible meal here - Pork Belly was unbelievable. really great pub and so close to Heathrow Airport. Highly recommend Golden Cross.

Don't look at any review pre November 2011 as they're no longer relevant. The new management has transformed the pub 100% - no TV, no Sky hooray. They have consistently served better cask ale than any other Colnbrook pub I've found in my 12-year search for a decent pub within walking distance (since Ron left the Olde George, anyway). It's not perfect: needs a little work on not letting it go flat toward the end of the cask. But for now, at least I can pop in on the way home for a swift half and be fairly sure of not being disappointed. Food looks good too. A good start all round for the new management and worth a visit.

Well I have just settled down to wait for my flight at Heathrow Terminal 5 after having yet another great meal at Golden Cross. I must say the food was even better than the last time and shew what a saving compared to where I was staying. This is a great pub with outstanding food, homemade and you can taste it. love this pub will pop in on my way back through London. Guys if you at Heathrow The Golden Cross is where to head in Poyle Colnbrook.

I travel a lot for work and spend a lot of time in pubs and like to eat where I drink. I often stay at Heathrow either at the start of a trip or when I return or both sometimes depending on the time. I think I have been to most pubs and restaurants in the Heathrow area. I saw The Golden Cross actually from the Hoppa Bus on the way back to my car at the new Hilton and decided to walk upon and have a drink. I had been here years ago and it was a dive. Wow, what a chance, the pub is great and the food is really fantastic. Homemade, not the microwave rubbish most places tend to be serving, really great food and the prices are very good as well. I enjoyed dinner and returned for a full English breakfast, brilliant sausages, eggs perfect, the full Monty for just 7.50, I think it was, whatever it was delicious and a full plate. You can tell it is owner run and the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. Great pub and fabulous restaurant I will be back if you are in the Heathrow Airport area try The Golden Cross.

The Golden Cross Pub and Restaurant at Heathrow has been transformed and oh boy what a difference a dedicated family can make to a venue. Sandy and Jamie have created a lovely, charming pub that offers delicious home cooked fare at very reasonable prices. Ale, lagers and cider on tap, a stunning comfortable seating area and a well laid out restaurant section. The Golden Cross is in Poyle, Colnbrook just off junction 14 on the M25. Well worth a visit, well done see you soon.

There is nothing very wrong with this pub, but there wasn't anything that would make me return for a second visit.
Good things about the pub: The staff were friendly and there were other customers in the pub which was reassuring. The beer garden was really spacious and green. They had quite a few picnic benches out there, which could make it nice for the summer.
Bad things about the pub: The location primarily is the worst thing about the pub. It feels in the middle of no-where as it is by several industrial estates. This feeling is only disrupted by the sounds of passing traffic as it is near a busy roundabout.

Modern looking interior. Fairly busy with the after-work crowd from the airport area. Two handpulls, but both were off. I was suspecting the worse, from the reviews and have heard stories of other people who have been here and been attacked by one of the St Bernards. Average or slightly below.

Visited last August and they could supply any vegetarian food, what a surprise last week when the place has been refurbed as has the menu. Great improvement

not even worth a mention this pub. Gone are the old days of karaoke nice owners.
the empty car park speaks volumes

Haveing read reviews we were not expecting much. We were really supprised, we were met with a very friendly greeting and shown a menu. The pub was very busy as they were showing a sky football match but the staff were quick and eager to help. My wife said she couldn't believe the food could be any good as it was so cheep (meals @ 3.95) I had their mixed grill WOW so much on one plate my wife had the homemade ham egg and chips both meals looked and tasted great. The owners do have dogs and we met them on their way our for a walk they are huge St Bernards but very friendly. We will not hesitate to return and have recomended this pub to all our friends. do not hesitate to pay them a visit next time you are in the area.

took my wife in on saturday for a meal. there was dog poo under a table and whole pub smelt of poo. how disgusting where food is being served. as we were the only people in the pub we decided to leave and go to the five bells down the road. i can definately recomend the food in the bells and avoid the golden cross like the plague. Unless you want to eat food of course whilst smelling a gentle wiff of poo

went there a month ago dont bother ! place is shit food had hairs in g/f complained and got abuse from the owners not the sort of place i want to spend my money
|
the guvnor needs to cheer up a bit, miserable irish git !! he also needs to sort out the transient terminal 5 workers that hang around aimlessly, accompanied by the usual assortment of slappers that are attracted to that type of bloke
not the best pub or atmosphere in the world by a long way, not helped by the terminal 5 guys and their assorted groupies mind you, they create a bad ambience throughout the place

Been back as promised. No change.....still rubbish!!!

Seems to do a fair food trade but if the kitchen is as dirty as the bar be prepared for the consequences. I also had a pint of lager in a dirty glass that didn't taste too good. This was a couple of months ago,so if it has changed hands I apologise. I think I will go back for another look and let you know!!
