After a visit to the Ring of Bells in Cheriton Fitzpaine (not listed on here), we moved on to Tiverton. The local Wetherspoons was our first stop. This one seems a little rough around the edges. Many of the locals were having rounds of shots. Although I don't mind participating in that myself occasionally. Ales were Hunters Royal Hunt & Crispy Pig, Exmoor Hound Dog, Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger, Ruddles Best, Marstons Help For Heroes, Greene King Abbot Ale & Quantock Will's Neck. Cider was Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Westons Wyld Wood. The chief feature is the well near the entrance (indoors). Outside, there is a terrace overlooking the river. I've been in worse Wetherspoons.

Nice enough, but very "local" Wetherspoons. The Otter mild was delicious and the real cider was very good too. Food ok. They need to keep an eye on measure though. Had to ask for several top-ups.

It's a bit hit or miss here especially with the food. Had some great meals here but recently unfotunatly the food has been bad. On a plus note this is the cheapest pub in the country! Ruddles was on at 1.15 a pint and it was gorgeous! So an 8/10 from me

Since new manager took over, standards increased drastically! Would definately recommend to anyone! Keep up the good work!

Oh my god One doesn't expect much from a jdw pub but the staff at this place really haven't got a clue. I think I must have sat at the same table as Marky Marc. The dirt on the table was still there and seemed to have been there since his visit (aug 05) if not longer. One to avoid

Nice large beer patio outside was made use off on carnival night(don't even ask me why we came to watch it). Got some really nice fish n chips from a nearby takeaway and washed them down with two great well kept guest ales. 8/10

A poor effort by Wetherspoon's mediocre standards. You can elect to sit in either choking smoke (roll on July 1st...); the family area; or under a giant TV screen which as they've paid for it is on 24x7 regardless of whether there's anything on that anyone might be at all interested in. Real ale in Wetherspoons is usually good, but this one ruins all it's beer by serving it through a sparkler. Staff are usually more interested in each other's conversations than the punters. The manager seems on the ball but he's up against it frankly.

Anyone who has ever had fun in a good pub before will know that this place is off key. I went with friends for some food and sat out in the beer garden on table that can only be described as hygenine problem.
We asked a barmaid to wipe the table down for us. After wiping one corner of the table with a dry tea-towel she announced that the dirt "doesn't come off" and that we should know that the staff "try their best".
The food arrived with impressive irregularity; orders were wrong and plates arrived 20 minutes apart. My scampi with tartar sauce came cold and with the added surprise that they didn't have any tatar sauce. We didn't find this out until we asked.
Overall the staff seem flustered, overworked and unhelpful and the atmosphere had called in sick.
Realising that I have left my coat over the back of the chair would be my only reason for going back. Even then I'd think twice about it.

Absolutely awful spoons. Smokey throughout (including "non-smoking"). We visited this pub whilst staying with my girlfriends family. My girlfriend works for spoons so is entitled to discount with a pay slip. This took the bar staff about 10 minutes to get their heads around. After eventually ordering and returning to our table we noticed that several things were missing from the receipt so had to continually return to the bar. The food all arrived at different times and chips were cold. The missus wanted a jacket potato but her meal arrived with chips - when questioned, the member of staff told us they'd run out........well thanks for making our own minds up!! One of the worst visits to a pub I've ever experienced!!
