What a lovely pub. I popped in here the other day for a couple and found it to be just the job; football on the telly, Fuller's beers in great condition, a warm welcome and some excellent live music. It's well worth a visit.

Didn't like this place. Five of us came in after watching a match at the nearby football club. As soon as we walked in a variety of middle aged locals congregated around the bar seemed to be looking round and staring at us as if we shouldn't be there. I almost felt like walking stright out again. One bloke said something unintelligible to me. I think he was attempting to take the piss out of me in some way but he sounded like he'd been in since opening time and didn't make any sense. Staff were friendly enough but my pint of London Pride was pretty mediocre. The Gents toilet absolutely stank, and the door was wedged open to allow the aroma to travel towards the rest of the pub. I won't be back.

The amount of effort that the new guvnor is putting into this pub deserves success. Also the London Pride is as good a pint as you'll get anywhere.

Long a neighbourhood local, toward the end of 2009 Andy & Sheelagh and their daughters arrived with ambitious ideas. It's to be hoped they succeed in their determination to rescue a pub which didn't have much going for it.

Already (April 2010) they've launched evening meals, though sadly that didn't build up the business it deserved and has been dropped for the time being. They're on first-name terms with all their customers and will give a very warm welcome to new ones. Business is building and the London Pride is now as well-kept as anywhere else.

Upstairs is being refurbished to become an impressive venue for live gigs and comedy nights. Downstairs the pub itself is to see some refurbishments. Quite rightly they're not aiming to take it up-market but instead to make the most of its 'proper pub' atmosphere, surely the right thing to do in an area where pubs tend toward the expensive and pretentious.

If Andy & Sheelagh can turn the Freeholders round it bodes well for other pubs facing decline or closure. Worth a visit if only to see what's changed this week!

I often go to this pub as the other pubs round the area seem to have no genuine atmosphere. When sitting at the bar this you get a sense of jollyness and overall community spirit. The staff are welcoming & non bias between the passers through & regulars. Beer's & Spirits prices are in line with our pubs in the area, although they double up on spirits for a 1 so it's good if your a Southern Comfort drinker like me! I often take a mate in who likes his ales, as they have quite a variety such as ESB, Honeydew, & Pride etc. If you haven't been here before it's definately worth a visit!

P.S, they have started doing food again! The chef "Nick" makes these mindblowingly good burgers all from scratch.

I've always come away disappointed from this pub and I've persevered for 3 or 4 visits to make sure it wasn't just 1 bad evening (I'm that dedicated!) .

Unless you're an avid player of pool or fruit machines, I'm not sure what this strangely laid-out pub has to offer. Certainly the beer isn't kept particualrly well and unusually for a Fullers pub the range of ales is limited (no ESB and few seasonal ales).

Also the clientele is rather cliquely and the welcome to those outside the clique is not especially friendly - think American Werewolf in London!

Excellent pub, friendly staff and customers! Dont go in as much as we should, but it is definately now our local.

This pub is great, everyone was so friendly that it was as if you leave Surrey as soon as you step through the door.

Well having given this pub a go, I'm rarely out of it. It has become the livliest pub in farncombe and the friendliest for miles. There have been a variety of events in the last few months, from exhibition darts, to disco's, fancy dress and kareoke and on there are some exciting things coming up a little bird tells me... Go on come join us, pop in for a pint or 6 and see what you think. Andy and Kath will always welcome you!

i used this pub when shelly and rob were the landlords regulary, but when they left it went seriously downhill full of druggies and drunks.
i was told that new landlords were now running the pub and it was a lot better, so i thought i'd see for myself. i was very shocked indeed the pub is now very clean and bright, the staff very friendly, the London Pride was excellent. The Landlord and Landlady introduced themselves to me making me feel very welcome, and while i was there a rather dubious character was refused entry. It really has changed for the better. I know that no pub can be absolutely rid of the undesirables but this pub is definately making every effort to become perfect

This pub is simply superb. As a regular drinker in the White Hart, my partner and I decided to 'give it a go' one night. We have never been made to feel so welcome, there's a great family atmosphere and a big sporty theme.

I think people should pay a visit as the new landlord and landlady are great very warm and friendly and if your looking for a game of darts there is no where that can beat the 6 boards around the place
give it a try
