I tend to appreciate 'cosy' small pubs but blimey it is so dark in here you practically need a bloody torch to find a table. Clearly a thriving pub though as it was absolutely packed on an ordinary THursday evening. Beer good.

Chequers was my favourite pub out of 8 I tried in North Oxfordshire yesterday. It has deservedly won the local CAMRA pub of the year competition. I wouldn't normally be so enthusiastic about a Fullers pub. But this was has a nice market town location and a warm and unspoilt interior, with much charm. Beers on yesterday were all from the Fullers range - Sticky Wicket, Wild River, London Pride, London Porter, ESB & Gales HSB. Whilst I was a little disappointed to see a lack of guest beers (I believe they normally stock 1 or 2), I was happy to see the London Porter available on cask for once. It's generally only a keg or bottle offering. The bar staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. It was quite busy and most of the customers were of the younger variety. It is nice to see them continuing to enjoy a great example of a British pub, as opposed to a soulless bar. Chequers is very much recommeded by me.

The beers are good, however we paid 28 for two meals, a pint and an orange juice. The meat on my lamb skewer was chewy, my girlfriend's burger wasn't the best. On top of that we asked for mayonnaise but were told that it costed extra - like it wasn't expensive enough... I think this would be a good pub for the beer but maybe go elsewhere for the food...

Visited several times in the last few months and the beer is always in good nick and served well. Always a guest on for those who don't love Fullers and good knowledgeable staff plus a good friendly landlord who knows his beer! Not tried food so can't comment but what I have seen looks good...

Appealing Fuller's pub, with an attractive rustic wooden interior spread over numerous small rooms and snugs. Large inglenook fireplace which would make for an extremely cosy winter venue when lit. Very good selection of Fuller's beers (no non tied ales) which were in good condition.
I thought the food was a bit disappointing - the beef roast was rather gristly and came swimming in creamy horseradish and water-like gravy. My steak (15) was ok but tiny. At 40 for two mains, one desert and a few pints, I'd expect better.

Pub with varied space - a cosy older bar and then open airy back room. The Fullers beers are very well kept. Last went there with 10 people looking for a meal (we hadn't booked) - the outstanding staff coped well with all our demands, and the food when it arrived was well worth the money, with some fine vegetarian options.

I've always like Fuller's pubs and this is a little gem. I particularly like slipping off for a swifty here while the kids are off doing their stuff in Chippy. The Times crossword and a couple of ales in a decent pub - heaven!

Haven't tried the food so cannot comment, but this a terrific pub with great ales. Bit draughty if you sit near the window in the back room, but that's a very minor gripe. We would have moved if there had been any other seats. There was'nt which proved how popular it was.

Great pub, full range of fullers and always well kept, helpful staff and as a bonus the food is excellent and always changing specials. Landlord looks like a gargoyle

Lively pub with a decent range of well kept Fullers' beers. Best pub in the area by far. Keep up the good work

This Fullers pub has just undergone a change of Landlord now that Josh has retired, and from what I could tell, it appears to be run in exactly the same excellent manner. There is the full range of Fullers beers with the seasonal too, kept in very good condition, the food is always superb, but as someone else has said a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. It is a popular, homely, friendly place and the Pub of choice in Chippy.

Excerllent town centre pub -- best in Chipping Norton for beer. However, bar food a bit on the expensive side for what it is.

Busy traditional pub in the centre of Chipping Norton, near the theatre. The Fullers London Pride was in splendid form on my visit last Friday. There is a large courtyard restaurant attached which, so I'm told, is highly regarded locally.
Recommended - I'm surprised this is only the second posting on this pub

Good Fullers ales in this busy pub with great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Parking not easy but it is worth persevering.
