'Walk in a stranger and stroll out a friend'. Chance would be a fine thing yesterday, as the pub was closed all day!

Walk in a stranger and stroll out a friend

Nice and clean inside. Hardly surprising though it was dead. Maybe so.ething to do with the barmaid being as welcoming as a brick through your window on christmas morning. This together with the barmaid and friends/possible other staff sat outside the entrance glaring at anyone who dares to walk under the arch is enough to make anyone spend their money elsewhere. Nice big beer garden which is unfortunately ruined by the smell of fish from a neighbouring business plus the numerous amounts of dog mess in and around the very unstable picnic benches. POOR.

It's now under new management. It's still a proper pub and it's still worth going to, but now the food is really quite special. Don't go here if you want poncy little bits of flavoured I don't know what artistically arranged on your plate. Do go if you want a good, substantial, tasty traditional meal. Steve is doing a great job in the kitchen and he's recruited bar staff with a bit of personality and aptitude. It's still Badger beer, but then it is a Badger house. It's much better value than Wetherspoons, and the food is edible!

Popped in for a quick pint. Still very sterile following the post fire rebuild but pleasant enough. Pity that it has no guest beers on but the Badger was ok as a last resort.

Rebuild or not, it's the sort of place where people stare at you as soon as you walk in the door :( not welcoming, not friendly and had one of the worst lagers I've ever had. Extremely flat. The menu was bland, the usual fare with nothing that sounded particularly nice or appealing.

Is a real shame because it's a lovely building but is obviously poorly run or you wouldn't get such a generally mean atmosphere.

The Albion is open again. Nice and bright and clean. The beer's still good for Hall & Woodhouse (whatever that's supposed to mean!) and the food is still basic, plentiful and cheap. They've virtually rebuilt the toilets, so for the first time ever in my experience (going back over 20 years) you don't have to borrow a gas mask to go in there.

Worth a visit, I think. The drunken Glaswegian doen't go in there much any more, but he can be avoided if he is. He's usually outside smoking anyway and I haven't seen him drunk for quite a long time. He does have health problems that sometimes make him grouchy. But if you get into conversation with him, you'll discover what a rich and eventful life he's led. He's just a bit rough round the edges.

It is a proper pub. There are locals in there, and they will laugh and make a bit of noise (and swear occasionally). If what you're looking for is poncy food at high prices, lacklustre service and a bar running hot and cold with ex public schoolboys, try The Olive Branch. It's only 100 yards away. You're welcome to it!

The Albion was damaged in a fire in July of 2009. It is currently closed. Rumor has it that the reconstruction is to be completed in summer of 2010. Not sure what will happen once the rebuilding is done.
It's too bad because I believe the place was under new management before the fire and my experiences there in spring 2009 were good. The bar staff were friendly and the food was reasonably priced with good quality.

Stupid "over 21's only" rule and slightly hostile atmosphere. As far as Hall and Woodhouse go however the beer is not bad..

Had a Tanglefoot which was OK. Only problem was we went in for lunch but left as the dining area was dominated by toddlers and prams. Not sure if this is usual though.

"Fresh home cooked food" they bang on about.
It's a pitty my fish, despite waiting a long time for it, was still frozen in places!

"Fresh home cooked food" ???? what a lie

And watch out for the pub bore - a disgusting, drunken Glaswegian slob and they wonder why other pubs in Wimborne are busier at dinner times!

This pub is a disgrace.

Horrible pub with very rough door staff. Sadly when wrongfully ejecting my friend they failed to realise he was a police officer....tut tut.

I tend to avoid the albion when in wimborne. The staff can be quite rude and the service slow. When you do finally get served though the beer is good (for blandford brewery).

What an amzing pub. So good to see the old traditional pub style still lives on. Superb service, food and the best pint of real ale I have tried for many a year.I must not forget the wonderful banter all around the bar.

One pub that must not be missed when in Dorset!!!!!!

Took an age to get served when I visited recently as there was only one person serving. This is a Hall & Woodhouse pub but the Badger Best was better than average although that's not saying much. Food is basic but very tasty
