4T's brewery tap that wasn't too busy on my arrival on Saturday lunchtime, despite a Liverpool match just kicking off and being shown on two or three TVs. Service was quick and efficient. 3 of the brewery's own ales were on - APA, Big Daddy & Old School Mild. Guests were Oakham Inferno, Mallinson's Motueka, Poynton Vulcan, Revolutions Switch #7 & Red Willow Wreckless. All football games from Liverpool or Manchester clubs appear on the TVs. Some of the regulars were moaning that it was too cold.

After the Ring o' Bells and the Bulls Head, the impressive selection of real ale here made a welcome change. Several by the 4T's Brewery, and we went for the 4T's Stout, which was very pleasant.
A bit of a strange place as despite the real ale choice, it seems to be focussed on being a sports bar, so the place did start to fill up and get a bit rowdy with excited gentlemen of a certain age crowding round one of the TV screens.
Decent beer but perhaps not the kind of place you would want to stay in for too long if you enjoy a quiet pint!

I felt out of place here because I didn't have a shaven head !!
7 or 8 obscure real ales from Breweries that you've never heard of, with no indication of what type of beer they actually are. [ At least I was fairly safe with Smokey Joe's Black Beer ! ]
Very much big screen sport oriented. There are some chairs and tables, but most of them would obscure other peoples view of the TV if you sat there !

Been in here many times - it's a good friendly enough pub with fine selection of ales at very reasonable price.

A Wires pub (still can't use the Murdochism 'wolves') with a corner devoted to the current RL champions. A token concession to the four big local premier league clubs is also in the sporting area near the tellies. A bit of a modern interior designed for busy periods (probably on Wires matchdays) and a few ales on including their own 4T's brews. I tried the Eye to Eye and Forever Laegue which were both pale brews. Pleasant enough but I find more and more real ales are tending to be pale and cold to attract the lager drinker.

staff too busy chatting to their mates, beer extremely cold and always pale types.
bit bare and basic, rather be in the albion or the angel

Horrible! No heart or soul, just dead from the waist up. Mostly pale ales served far too cold for my liking, not a porter or stout in sight. Never again.
|
Always a fine selection of real ales from all over the UK, all well served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. A must visit pub for any real ale fan.

A proper beer-drinkers pub, with plenty of decent ales and lots of basic wooden furniture. Went for the 'Birds and the Bees' from the Williams Bros Brewing Co. which was in excellent condition. Overall - rather good.
|
On of 3 good Freehouses in the vicinity that offer a great choice of real ales.
Worth a visit.

Great pub from the good beer guide, appears to be just called "the tavern" now. Great selection of ale's and friendly service, prob fave pub visited in Warrington, 8/10

Excellent ales again last night and made welcome despite or because of not being a local.
|
Back here again on Monday thanks to a work trip.Enjoyed a couple of pints of ale in excellent condition, served by friendly staff in a locals pub that welcomes strangers.
Whenever I go to Warrington I will try to visit this pub.

This is a lovely single room pub with a good selection of real ales on offer. Beers changed while we were there, and all were good. There is a large courtyard at the back.
|
Six ales on handpump when I visited on a Saturday lunchtime while in the town for a rugby match. By around 7pm five of the original six had run out and been changed to something different. Range and quality of ales on offer was generally very good.

Sorry for the typo in the previous review - should be 3 in Sussex but it feels like 33 sometimes.
|
Went in last night with a colleague from work (both based in the south). There were (I think) at least 4 or 5 real ales on and the two I had were very good. Can't believe how reasonably-priced (for 2007)the beers were;still one or two sub-2 pints. You won't get much change from 33 in parts of Sussex.

Where were thise phantom selection of real ales. Tetley's or Speckled Hen hardly very exciting is it ?
|
The best selection of ales in Warrington.
