After the write-up in the GBG, I thought this was a real disappointment. Four nationally-available beers (Youngs, Pride, Landlord and Doombar) at pretty much London prices, and bar staff who were more interested in chatting to each other than serving people. I'll stick to pubs like the Bell and the Old Green Tree, which serve local beer and give you a good welcome.

Quite a good friendly back-street pub, with a good range of beers and pretty good (though unexceptional) food. Well off the usual Bath tourist track, so it isn't too crowded (and has fairly reasonable prices too). 7/10

Although it doesnt look much from the outside, this is a decent pub tucked a little way away from the central area at the other side of Henrietta Park. Well worth the short stroll to get here though.
The main bar is an attractive affair with a mixture of exposed stone walls, plaster and some wood panelling. There was a fireplace in one wall and a decent looking and extensive menu chalked on a board up above. There was also another bar at the rear where I spied a plasma showing a sports match, but I didnt investigate this.
There is some limited seating outside, and although its facing on to the road there was very little traffic and this was a pleasant spot to while away an hour or two on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I believe there is also a small courtyard although I didnt see this.
Beers on this occasion were Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sheep Dip, London Pride, Tribute and Youngs Bitter. Ciders were well represented with Thatchers Heritage, Symonds Founders Reserve and Stowford Press.

Upmarket corner pub in the inner suburbs. Has a good range of the usual nationally-available real ales. Good quality food.
This is a great street corner pub that had 4 or 5 well kept ales on tap when I visited last Friday. Made most welcome even though I was wearing a Leciester Tigers rugby top!
It's on the market for 85,000 with Christie & Co. but is also being leased by Enterprise Inns for 34,500 p/a. More nonsense from the Bath Chronicle but someone has to buy or lease it! Or both!

Good range of beers - Butcombe, 6X, London Pride. Large roaring fire and not too pricey.
Good beer, pleasant crowd, outside seating. Worth a visit.
Probably the least impressive beer on my Bath pub crawl but thats a relative thing as all the other pubs were well above average so maybe I'm being a little harsh. Nice welcoming pub and enjoyed my lunchtime snack and as with all the other pubs heartily recommended.
Friendly pub and well kept beer. The landlord Ash is one of Bath's most cheerful landlords despite neighbours from hell who made trouble over his opening hours. Recommended.

Fantastic pub. great beer, great food.
Real nice place, always plenty of independent ales on tap and good food. Nice staff as well and TVs for the all important rugby, and well located just out of the centre off Great Pultney Street.
The Pulteney has been under new management again for the last 6 months or so and the improvement is spectacular. The place is clean, the food is good, the beer is good and the staff are friendly. They've replaced the aged TV's with decent new ones. There's no better place to meet before and after a Bath game or to watch sport.
The food variety and quality has plummeted under new management - The Pulteney is only a shadow of its former self.

Real gas lighting, good beer, good cheap and filling food, great place to meet up before a Bath game.
This is a proper rugby pub, you can a proper pint and the food and atmosphere is cracking.
