I popped into this establishment on a Saturday evening recently having imbibed elsewhere & in need of a nightcap. There was a birthday party in full er swing but the place was still open to others brave enough to chance their arm.A very intimidating atmosphere indeed. All eyes seemed to be upon me while I gulped my pint & I couldn't get out of there fast enough.A shame because the previous landlord had the place heading in the right direction. The recent closure of 'The Mansion' across the road bodes ill as some of the more unpleasant elements will no doubt migrate to 'TheThree Horseshoes'.Sadly this is currently one to avoid yet in the right hands it has much potential.

|
I can't stand this pub I hate the beer I don't like the people.
|
Not my sort of cuppa tea to be honest I wouldent recommed this pub to anyone, I feel vey uncomfortable when I go in there.
|
A footnote. My own dear mother informs me she has taken luncheon here recently & that she enjoyed the experience.Praise indeed from a rather awkward customer i'd say.
|
Recent visit confirmed the reported lack of real ale.Only Courage Best which i didn't try. That said there is a nice community friendly feel about the place & the lunchtime food is apparently popular.I spied none of the more unpleasant social elements that blight many of Feltham's places of public refreshment so that's a plus. There's much evidence of a well run pub really. It would be interesting to see if it could cross the real ale rubicon .A weekly guest ale as an experiment perhaps.

Hello buddy, three fried chickens and a coke please

Prominent 1930s "Brewer's Tudor" pub at busy road junction, which replaced an earlier nearby hostelry of the same name in this area. Opposite the cemetery, but ti's to be hoped the pub is not heading there as you could do a lot worse. The newish landlord, John Hall, is extremely friendly (has been here a couple of years or so) and is renowned for his food. Especially worthy of note are the Sunday lunch deal (2 courses for 6.95). I can't yet speak from personal experience, but intend to try that in about a week- others say it's excellent.
Ale choice is sadly limited, but the Courage Best has been on good form whenever I've tried it. This is the only remaining former Courage pub (out of 3) in Feltham High Street. Indeed, this end of the town WAS Feltham until the arrival of the railway drove the centre northwards.
The landlord fosters good relations with the community, and this comes across as a 'locals' pub which nevertheless always has a welcome to the newcomer. Regular live music, quiz nights, darts board (and team, I presume?). There's even a "breakfast club" one Satirday a month which offers a fantastic choice and an "all you can eat" deal. However, I'm not sure if this is open to all.
Adequately sized car-park, but VERY convenient for public transport- two London Buses routes stop right outside, with the return direction stop opposite. Good sized beer-garden and friendly dogs.
In summary, a pleasant enough drink stop, but I wish the landlord could be persuaded to invest more in traditional ales. it would get a higher rating from me if he did.

Hmmm. A sign inside the entrance states that they haven't increased the prices (recent budget increase). 3.60 for a pint of warm Kronenbourg(!). Heaven help when they put the price up eventually!.
|
This pub has its own web-site and looks like the landlord is making some good effort to keep this an ongoing venue. I did hear rumour that it is to be lost to a development of flats. I hope this is just rumour. This pub ranks in the top half of Feltham/Bedfont's dozen or so pubs, in my opinion.

I'm waiting for G.Ps review before venturing back in... Hurry up GP
|
Very quiet in here last Monday evening but there again Fosters is a whopping 3.10 a pint....see Mansion..same pint for 2.20 Won't go here again.
|
New landlord does decent food until 7pm. Much improved recently, although Courage Best the only ale for sale. Refurb is a cheap one but at least it's cleaner now. The crowd of smokers blocking the entrance to the lounge bar is a put of. Avoid the saloon bar at all costs if you value your health. Fairly affable set of locals now the chav kids have been given their marching orders. Quiz night on Tuesday attended by the same people that have been doing it for years so you'll never win, even with a wap-enabled mobile.

has left that pub**
|
sad to here the landlady has lost that pub is losing the best thing it has had in a long time! hope evrything goes well for her in the future! Good luck to the new landlord or landy hoe they dont let all the riff raff back in it was really starting to become the bect pub!! good luck again!
|
the pub may only have one ale but does it really need another??? and scrumpy jack hardly ever sold!! they still have strongbow which to me is a better summer drink!!!. The refurb has made the pub look fresh and modern but yet has its traditional feel the 3 horse shoes has always had!! Still see the landlady is still pulling in the custmers and everyone is talking about how great is is now with the food, Well done, Keep up the good work you have pulled this pub out of the dirt where it was and is now a pub you can go to and have a good drink and a chat with friends and/or family.
|
The refurb has seen a few changes, still only 1 ale on (Courage Best) AND they've got rid of scrumpy jack cider (a summer favourite!)
|
i have to say since the new landlady took over the pub has improved 100% at least! they have recently just got rid of all the riff raff and the pub is getting even better. The refurbishment is happening soon and i can say i cant wait and will be visiting the pub when it reopens that half of the bar! Keep up the good work!
|
Closing for a big refurb very soon according to new boss. May see big changes to layout.
|
It gets better... the landlady (Dom) left on Thursday. Funny how she happened to leave so quickly - and just before spending Christmas with her regulars(?)

Done last night by the police for selling to under age kids, about time they got busted for it!

Long-standing guvnor Jack left at the weekend - so we'll have to wait & see what happens to the pub... whether Dom will carry on the licence, or a new manager is appointed - who knows!
|
Depends what you are drinking.
OK, "The best pint of Guinness in Feltham"
TheGP - 29 Mar 2007 12:38 |
Don't know about the "Best pint in Feltham" bit - how can you decide that when all they sell is Courage? Try the Moon On The Square for the "Best pint in Feltham". PS: Lovely pub... window put through on Xmas eve....
|
She's right about the beer you know - Best pint in Feltham in this pub..
TheGP - 21 Aug 2006 16:01 |
This is the finest pub in Feltham! Such a lovely locals pub where there is rarely any trouble but never short of action! The bar staff are the best in the area and the management is simply superb! Contrary to what other reviews say the staff do not look like they'd rather be hanging around outside a chip shop with hoods and scooters just because they are reasonably young and as for the gold hopped earring brigade that is complete crap. The people that have written this were probably heavily pissed up and off their faces on crack and in fact they were probably in The Rose and Crown! The beer maybe a little expensive but at least it isnt 90% percent water unlike most of the rubbish around! You are always going to enjoy yourself, as the atmosphere is always excellent and friendly.
Overall a lovely pub, lovely locals, lovely bar staff and lovely management. We thank you, The Shoes!!!!!!!

I, and many on this site have given this pub a bit of a slagging in the past. However, I went in again for the first time in years, and to be fair it was OK.
Bar staff were very friendly, it is a very local pub, but it seems to have considerably less of the threatening chav element that say, the Red Lion or the Rose and Crown has. And the Guinness is good.
Therefore, I would perhaps recommend a stop off for a quick pint - it's not that bad.

Looks a big place on the outside but tiny inside. Overly priced mainstream beers with bar staff that look like they'd rather be hanging around outside a chip shop with hoods and scooters. Not the best Pub around the feltham area. Try the Airman instead.
|
I would agree it is more of a locals pub, the customers range from about 1month old to 100 years old, all smoking and boozing.
A sad excuse of a toilet
I think you would probably have to be a bit on the drunk side to enjoy this pub. Not the best pub in Feltham!

The Peopole who issue Pub licences should investigate these premises. With Children crawling around the floor over Fage Ends and whatever, their parents /guardians think it fun to let forth with language that would make Wayne Rooney blush. How can a Publican allow this behavoir to continue??? ... with the adults fuelled with as much Lager as their Giros will allow, who knows what sadness awit these children. The modern equivelent of Gin Alley - close it immediately.

I'll have a pint of whatever PJ was drinking on the 30th Sept. Last time I was there a 'derelict' was wandering amongst the clientel trying to flog God knows what from a Tescos Bag and someone's kids who must have been on acid were using the TV end as an adventure playground untill one of their minders slapped him across the head and made him cry for 10 mins! And this is one of Feltham's better Boozers... My God.
The Pub Ghost - 10 Oct 2004 12:56 |
I went in here last Friday afternoon & it seemed a lovely, well kept pub (NO I wasnt drunk!). Agree that the rest of Feltham pubs look like they should be avoided like the plague!
PJ - 30 Sep 2004 17:10 |
A real locals pub, The Three Horseshoes is basically the Tardis in reverse - Looks massive on the outside, but a poky mess inside.
You will get some funny looks from the gold hooped earring brigade if you go in here, and there really are better places to drink not to far away - Get the bus to Sunbury instead.
TheGP - 10 Aug 2004 11:45 |
One of Feltham's better Boozers (which means by national average it's the pits). There hasn't been a fight there for weeks and as soon as the summer is over women will be able to walk past in complete safty without the Yobs on the steps frightening the Kids.
