Castle, Rowlands Castleback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
It's fine. Some of the surliest barmaids outside of London but beer is okay and it's relatively untroubled by tracksuits.

Well, if this is any measure at all of a pub, within 2 minutes of entering into the Castle's jolly main bar area I felt immediately at home. A mix of nicely-scrubbed-up locals were in attendance, all in happy spirits, with a gentle pace being set by the genial, be-shirted and be-tied landlord (a rare sight these days; well done that man!), ably abetted by a couple of rather attractive young ladies. All this, along with the predictable but reliable range of Fuller's cask beers (the Seafarers was the absolute business on my visit), conspired to create a really rather appealing vibe, and I became envious of those who lived within easy reach and could get here for what I'm sure is always an excellent show at weekends. I think this pub has the best of two often very disparate worlds: a popular, savvy urban drinking house, and a comfortable, smart rural establishment. Both camps gel very well it seems, united by the vaguely boisterous duopoly of beer, and rugby.
Incidentally, one of our number required a cup of tea - a peculiar request for a Friday evening but one which was met with politeness and efficiency by the staff. It is the kind of pub where everything goes, provided you're a decent sort who won't rock what is a very jolly boat indeed. I need to be here again at some point in future.

Proper old boozer with the normal Fullers beers, lovely log fires in both bars which were split into a dining area and a normal drinkers bar, plenty of locals in here after work and good friendly banter. Ample parking at the rear and dog friendly. Shall visit agin in the near future

After a moonlit Hallowe'en walk to Chalton and the Red Lion (excellent welcome, beer, and food), under a high hunters or is it poachers moon our way back was chilly and well lit. We made good time and had time for a half hour restauraution - the Seafarers ale was particularly good I thought, as was the general welcome, and friendly dogs. Two pots of tea were no problems, so all of our group of 6 were well-satisfied.

A proper old boozer, with a dog and a friendly landlord. Grub is unpretentious (and sometimes a bit plain) though sensibly priced; beer is Gales. Best of the 3 on Rowlands Castle's 'main drag'.

Excellent pub for local trendies, but food is good and beer is well kept Gales. Best pub in the village.
