Of a dining party of 4, 2 persons satisfied with the food, 2 very disappointed. I had the 10 oz sirloin steak. It seemed to be cow meat of very poor quality and certainly not one would expect for 13.50. The chips and onion rings were under-cooked. My partner's scampi and chips were under-cooked. The pub itself was very pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful. But considering the poor quality of the food definitely not good value as a place to eat.

all new NO POOL TABLE AND NO LOUD MUSIC a very pleasant pub will go again

We had a very pleasant visit to the pub during our weekend break in Cambridge. We were made to feel very welcome and given excellent service. The pub had been refurbished at the end of last year and was very tastefully done. The meal was extremely enjoyable and very reasonably priced. All in all a very pleasurable experience.

my family was visiting from Northern Ireland and we lunched there 2weeks ago sunday. We have a beautiful lamb dinner, excellent service in very pretty surroundings and can only assume some of the above comments were isolated. Yes there were locals hogging the bar stools but is that what a local is meant to offer - no-one called it a gastro bar - it is a very nice social experience and we can't wait to try steak night

Had a pint in here on Fri 8th Oct.
Didn't seem the most friendly of places. About a dozen or so locals sitting on stools at the bar with a look about them=, that strangers weren't welcome.
Had a Fosters and was probably the worst of the four pubs in Histon.

A third thumbs-down from me (28-4-2009). Was asked why I was photographing the menu (without using flash). Explained, feeling like a naughty schoolboy, it was to print a menu at home. No hot food at 4.30 pm. Started playing loud, unpleasant music which my mature group did not appreciate. Guinness (pint) expensive -- well over 3. Dreadful place. Avoid. All other pubs in Histon are better. Hard to see how places like this can stay in business during the current climate.

Not the best of pubs. Certainly not amongst the best in Histon. Beer is not the best and there are a lot of young lager drinkers. More of a Pool and lager pub than anything. Try the others in Histon they are all superior to here.

Not on my list, but looked good with an almost Tudor-style frontage, and Everards owned, so I jumped off the bus & walked back. Woe is me. Four handpumps, Tiger & Original plus 2 unclipped. Tried the Tiger it didnt look good, and wasnt. Id already received a hostile glare from the bar when I asked for a top-up, mainly to make a point as the lager drinker served before me (the only other customer) had meekly accepted his drink maybe an inch, or more, short of a pint. Low beamed ceiling, some bare brickwork, large brick inglenook with brasses whose effect was sadly lost due to the presence of an ugly plastic high-chair obscuring the wood/coal stove. Someone who I imagined to be the guv was playing one of the intrusive gaming machines, beyond which were a dartboard & pool table. The pub could probably be first rate with some caring management & decently kept beer but, even empty, I got the impression it would lean toward chav-central when busier. Shame. In the belief that returning my beer to the bar would prove fruitless, at least in getting a decent pint, I left it & did one.
