A group of us ate and drank here for the first time recently. Excellent rolls, with salad, and a good range of fillings. We were warmly welcomed, and noted the eco-friendly accommodation block, perhaps for future reference. Definitely we will visit again.

Revisited last week for the first time in several years. Still very good, but seemingly bigger! (Pip123's post accounts for this, I suppose.) Only drank J20 thanks to heat and general tiredness so can't comment on the current sate of the beer. Menu still looked good.

On the downside - the road through the pavementless road through the village is still virtually unusable for pedestrians: something MUST be done - either a bypass - or at least a light-controlled, alternating ,single-lane system (as on a narrow bridge) so that a decent pavement can be built over hal;f the carriageway. As things stand, the Red Lion has to be just about the only pub in UK which is safer to to drive to than walk to! Not a good thing in a pub!

Called in during a recent holiday in the area. Great pub been a few times and it's always on my 'to do' list when in the area. Wherry from the cask went down well. Cracking views from the tables down the side of the pub of the valley across the road. It's near to my other favourites - The Chequers, Binham and The Three Horseshoes, Warham - so handy.

Best pub in North Norfolk in my ever so humble opinion. Great beer, equally good food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, loads of tables, open fires in most rooms and a regular bus service along the coast road to boot.

we stayed here last week and was disappointed the breakfast was getting smaller each day and the mushrooms tasted of diesel. the fish the night before had a funny smell to it i should of complained. the pub is not big and the tables near the fire was all reserved and on a weekend you have to be in early otherwise you can't get a table even if you are staying which we was the accomdation is not worth 90 pound a night the pillow was ripped and turned over so you would not see over all a badly run pub with no landlord just a young bar manager and young staff never a good thing in a pub shame lovely area.

Popped in here during a stay in the nearby village of Binham and got it from the Good Pub Guide. Very nice pub with interesting rooms. Great views of the valley across the (busy) main road and the rooms looked modern. Good pint of Wherry, but no guest beers on my visit. Food looked good, but I didn't try. All in all a good pub to go and visit. Also try The Three Horseshoes and Warham for its 1920s history and The Chequers in Binham for its own brewed beers.

Stopped for lunch here recently whilst up in Norfolk on holiday - and were glad we did.

A lovely snug old building, very good and well kept beer and very nice food - friendly staff too. They have just built brand new accommodation out the back which looks great and based on my impressions of the pub, I'd happily recommend.

Well worth a visit

My husband and stayed at this pub last weekend. We have used the pub many times when in the area and always found it to be good. The pub is a nice country pub and very popular with locals. So we decided to have a treat and a night away staying in one of the rooms in the new block at the back of the pub.

The rooms were built last year so they are very modern and well done. The website shows the rooms as they are. We had lots of nice white fluffy towels it was very clean with a modern bathroom. You get a TV and kettle with lots of tea (all types)/coffee/hot chocolate etc. Plus a nice balcony or patio area to sit on.

We had our evening meal at the pub and got so much we couldnt eat it all. It was a hot summer evening and we sat outside on one of the new table/chairs. Its set out really nicely. My husband is a fussy eater but loves the food here.

Breakfast is taken in the conservatory / dining area of the pub. We were greeted and allowed to sit where we felt comfortable then offered tea/coffee and you get a nice big pot of tea. We had the full English plus toast and there are also juice/cereals too. I couldnt fault it. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We will return thank you we enjoyed out stay and the rooms where full, which I think, speaks for itself. There is a lot to do in the area. The village has a shop, church, walks and antique shop. Go to Burnham Market and Holt both nearby with nice shops/pubs etc. Also go to Holkham Hall that is nearby and the park is free to visit.

An excellent pub, brought back into service relatively recently after years as a private house/shop I believe. I first discovered Woodforde Wherry here and have never looked back! The only problem with this place is the horrendous road you have to cross to get to it! In fact, walking through Stiffkey is almost an ompossibility in itself.

We went to this pub in March after a long walk from Binham Priory. It is very welcoming, with a series of homely rooms, and lit fires. Not over decorated, feels very snug.

Nice pub with extensive home cooked menu which was very good value. Popular with tourists in the summer months. Situated on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast road and is close to Blakeney and Cley. Pronounced 'Stewkey' by the locals, so don't make this mistake cos I got laughed at! The pub is a Free-House but the main brew when I was there was Woodfordes, with the venerable Wherry being served as a bitter. No Juke Box or other amusements....just the food and beer. But for me, that suffices. Nice relaxing atmosphere.
