Now a restuarant with a different name...

Why are pubs in the city so awful? The SPT encapsulates everything that is wrong with them. Generic wooden floors and tables appearance, typical array of lagers and a couple of bland bitters. Guaranteed a trade by it's location the whole impression is of a pub that nots bothered if you're there or not. It's about ok for a quick pint at lunch, but don't ever think of eating here. The burger, steak, fish and chips menu is overpriced, tastes like it's been microwaved and often arrives lukewarm.

Utter crap. How anyone can serve Morlands Real Ale and attempt not to put a head on it (and make it look like a pint of beer?) when I asked for one is amazing. The only real anything was the cavorting couple having a good fondle at each other won't be bothered though - no-one to bother them but then they got up and left and so with my carona downed.......I left.

Agreed, very little character now and Greene King beers are so bland. Food menu is dire (very chain pub). Best avoided. Walk a few hundred yards up Bunhill Row (which is directly across the road) and you will have an infinitely better experience at the Artillery Arms.

Now owned by Greene King and the real ale choice limited to their brands on a recent visit.Appears to have lost some of its character with the outside now spoilt by ghastly green paint!

A cosy little pub with friendly staff, a good place for after-work drinks.
The food isn't really up to much although the nachos are tasty.

Used to be a nice pub, but if you're not a regular then expect harrasment, and then get more grief from the bar staff.

Its not worth a visit unless you're looking for trouble.

Great choice of beers. I love Deuchars IPA! Scottish ales tend to be made more traditionally.

Don't bother with the standard, "chain pub" food though. Come and enjoy the fine beer and then visit the Artillery Arms just up Bunhill Row.

Looks nice and in a good location but guiness is below average and food is poor. All Bar One on nearby Moorgate is a better option.

Excellent choice of beer, with Deuchars IPA on tap a favourite. Also a number of rotating guest ales from the keg. Lunchtime food is good if you can get a table. Not too crowded and the service is efficient. Worth a visit, and an alternative to the Kings Head down the road.

My experiences of this pub are average. Too many girls from the suburbs try to nab themselves a city-slicker for the night but other than that it is reasonable. The food is pretty good at lunchtime, with a bustlying but not too noisey atmosphere. Staff are helpful. Not bad at all.

Used to use this one when I worked nearby. Can get very crowded in the evenings but the staff cope well.
