Still closed, and now the steel shutters have gone up on all the windows and door.. Things do not look good for this one..

Much to no one's surprise, The Willow is now CLOSED.
It turned out that people didn't want to meet and drink in what seemed like a 1970's working man's club on 'Cabaret Nite'!
Who'd have thought eh?

This place has reopened and is now called Willow and it has been turned into a chilled Spanish restaurant/gastro pub complete with live Spanish guitar that was playing on my visit. There is a sign up outside stating that a restaurant will be opening upstairs shortly which was surprising as it wasnt very busy whilst I was there.
The three hand pumps at the end of the bar have been cleaned and polished to become a feature, but alas I fear that they will never dispense anything resembling a real ale ever again. The draught pumps for Fosters, Kronenburg, Bulmers and Guinness are hidden low behind the bar so that you have to ask what is on offer as I think that table service is the order of the day. The couple of business men along from me that were talking shop and tucking into the vast array of spirits behind the bar alongside the barman/waiter shaking up some cocktails had me thinking that I was in a hotel bar.
Id take the wife here for a meal as it is very nice, but it would not even enter my brain to go here just for a Guinness again.

Seems like the owners may have read the recent reviews as the pub is currently closed and seems to be undergoing a major refurbishment. Let's hope they turn it back into a decent Inn to complement the Salisbury and kings Head up the road, and renaing it back to 'The Chase Side Tavern' would be nice. However with the current trend I wouldn't be surprised if another 'Maze In ' style makeover is the result.

Everything about this pub is wrong! Decor is like a bad refurb from the 90s that is dating badly, no atmosphere, no decent beer. Pool table is the one positive!

Terrible pub. Like something from a condemned council estate.

Shocking pub, falling apart at the seams, rough crowd. Needs a refurb.

Lovely friendly atmosphere, speically on a Sunday afternoon what with all the bar snacks out on the bars. Good for football coverage and other sporting events, but then again I would say that!
