Second pub on the pre match drinking before the U's 2-2 draw with the Millers. Decent food to keep us going on the Kelham tour and pretty decent beer range, we had a couple in here, I had a session bitter which was pretty good and a golden ale, pretty decent ale selection.7/10

No wifi. No John Smiths. No J20s and they ran out of orange juice. Nice outdoor seating area. I had a Cajun chicken burger, definitely not worth the £8 something it cost, burger was nice enough, a little small and only came with about 3 chips, a small sprinkling of side salad. Although its nice to sit outside I don't think we will bother eating here again.

Does not really stand comparison with the Harlequin, Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern, but of itself isn't bad - pleasant decor, good position (especially in decent weather) and what seems like an adequate menu.

Dropped in again only this time the pint of Krakken was undrinkable

As it describes itself - cafe bar as opposed to pub. Was nice enough and the pint of Kraken was drinkable.

Small selection af Real Ales. Food good and live music. Very busy on Thursday. Handy for food on the Crawl around Kelham Island area.

This pub is not too far from the Kelham Island Tavern, the Fat Cat and the Harlequin. So it fitted in fairly well for our crawl. It wasn't the best of pubs, but was satisfactory. It has a nice location next to the river and we chose to sit outside. The ale range was Empire Dog Days, Anglo Dutch Mid Summer Ale, Raw Anubis Porter, Brew Company Raken Bitter & Hop Ripper IPA & Sheffield Tramlines. Ciders were Westons Old Rosie & Addlestones. Worth a visit if you have the time.

Contrary to the previous bafflingly petulant and rather ill-informed review, had a very pleasant time overlooking the river watching the mallards raising there large broods . Solid selection of ales and a relaxed open atmosphere and a good spot to end your valley of beer tour on the way back to town. A river collecting the water off the many big hills in Sheffield will never look like a Hampshire trout stream even without the industrial heritage.

Not worth going to for the river. The river is basically a sewer. The local Riversaide Pale Ale is very nice. Slightly on the expensive side. A nice interior. Stay inside and don't stay for more than one. 5 starters for 7 is very good though.
Recommended for beer. The house beer Riverside Pale is from the local Brew Company. Magnificent Ward's art deco windows. Good old photos of local scenes inside. Terrace alongside the river at the back.
Decent riverside pub. brewdog Trashy Blonde, Brew Co Riverside Pale Ale and Pacific Jade, White Rose Raven and others beers from Anglo Durch and Great Newsome. Beer quality was fine. Draught and bottled foreign beer. Watched the football on a big screen. Worth a stop between Harlequin and Fat Cat.

Visited during a Sheffield crawl. Beers of very poor quality. Both appeared slightly warm and both tried were on the hazy side. Miss this one out in future as far better pubs nearby.
Another crawl round the valley of beer, and this time there were 6 beers on here from micros. We selected a Glenfinnan and a 3.5 beer called 'Ow Much that I have to look up the brewery as I don't appear to have written it down. Selection good and it is always worth popping in to check the ales.

Wasn't sure about this place with the 'Cafe Bar' moniker but there was no evidence of this on my visit- maybe it's been dropped? However, was pleasantly surprised. it's still a pub, albeit a modern and airy one, and was once owned by Wards' as the leaded windows testify. One large room with part partitions including a near snug with a TV that shows all live football, plus an outside terrace overlooking the river and the student flats opposite. Mixture of traditional and modern furnishings. Busy on my visit with mostly younger patrons watching Liverpool vs United and also a private function on. Very good on the real ale front however on my Saturday visit- Milestone Home Wrecker, Acorn Lubelski, Vale Edgar's Golden, Slaker Pale Ale and White Rose 'Whiter Shade of Ale' plus 2 other microbrewey beers that I unfortunately omitted to record- in other words, an impressive selection ,if predominantly geared towards lighter hoppy beers. White Rose and Milestone were in cracking from and very quaffable. Whilst normally a fan of more traditional pubs, I enjoyed it here and would return, it deserves its inclusion in the Valley of Beer crawl and you should endeavour to visit.

Called in as pub number 2 on our crawl to find the lady behind the bar cleaning handpumps but no pumpclips, and no beer on. Believe beer came on again a couple of days later.
Superb pint we had in here on the way to the Harlequin. Nice river view, friendly staff, will look it up again. Says that in the crunch they've scaled back the number of beers (3) on during the week, but fill up the 7 handpumps for the weekend.
The beer was fine but the bar had no atmosphere and the barstaff weren't that interested in the customers. I've nothing against cafe style pubs but this was featureless and a bit grubby. We ate there - the food was just about adequate.

Tried to call in on Saturday 7th March, but for some reason it was closed at about 3.30
Visited last month when doing a crawl round Sheffield and although still basically empty, the beer range has improved. Enjoyed a Sheffield and Ramsbury beer. Like the terrace outside looking over the river.

welcomed with a distinct smell of faeces as soon i i entered the pub! has gone down hill since the recent departure of the last manager. new management seems incompetent. selection of beers and ales are mediocre to ok when they have any. entertainment is very old fashioned and dull from what i have seen. sunday carvery looks nothing like it does on the website. food in general is ok. staff are mostly pleasent, but they all look very tatty, some have hygiene problems! could be a great family place.....but isnt! 1/10
best pint of real ale i had all day, good selection of imported beers aswell, the carvery looked good too but was no where left to sit sadly, 8/10
quiet (on Saturday lunchtime) riverside location......not the prettiest of river-side views tho. decent ale selection for the 'Floody Hell 2' festival last weekend.
Sometimes quiet, but a good choice of beers and very pleasant location overlooking the river. One of several excellent pubs in the area.
Called in on 5.7.07 after the Don Floods and found that high ground had saved this riverside pub. Enjoyed my beer on the balcony overlooking the Don.
Nice pleasant pub, extremeley quiet which was refreshing. Bit of development going on around there so should pick up trade. Nice location by the river and the beer was good.
Good food, good selection of ales, live entertainment most evenings, pleasant location within city centre
