Ate here one Sunday lunchtime about 2 weeks ago. Excellent choice of food on menu, plus lots of specials. Beer well kept (good pint of Moles) and attentive service. Party of 6 consisted of 2 kids, 2 parents and 2 OAPS. One of the best pubs in North Wiltshire if you can find it!!!

We (4 blokes) stayed here for 2 nights on a m/bike trip - Wadsworth 6X, Butcombes & Moles were on. Had the 6X - V.Good. Buzzy local pub, very friendly, good breakfast, stunning views and great roads around the Mendips. Recommend.

I have been here a few times now for lunch and it has always been great. Lovely old pub with a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The views from rear of the pub and the garden are amazing and look out over the valley - countryside for as far as you can see! I usually have a bar meal and a pint of Ale and both are always of a good standard. I will be returning one evening soon with my wife for dinner and to try out the full menu.

My partner and I ate here for the first time tonight and were blown away, the food was unbelievable. My partner started with the squid salad and he said it was the best squid he had ever eaten and the salad dressing was really fantastic. He followed with the ribeye steak which he again was very impressed with. My sizzling stir fry was the best thing Ive eaten in a very long time, I had the beef and looking forward to trying the chicken and pork . You are offered a choice of sauces and oils that it is cooked in. The desserts of choc and orange cheesecake and double choc semifrodo were equally delicious. Although the decor is a little tired, the staff were lovely and we would recommend this pub whole heartedly. We would recommend booking though, as every table was reserved.

Lovely old style pub with great beer. Is a bit food orientated and was suprisingly (probably too-) busy for a mid-week lunchtime, it seemed nicer after the rush had cleared a bit. Near Brunel's Box Tunnel. Well worth a visit - not far from Bath by bus along the A4. Overall 8/10.

Food-oriented but excellent pub, with a good selection of beers and drinkers made welcome. Lovely views from the picture window too. Only one drawback - I ALWAYS have trouble finding it!!!

We visited over the February half term. Slightly difficult to find, but well worth it.The regular ales are Butcombe, Moles and Wadworths 6X. I hadn't had Butcombe before, and found it a well hopped, almost marmaladey beer. The barman offered me a taste of Trendlewood bitter form Abor brewery, again a new one: rather on the burnt side, and perhaps not to my taste, but worth a pint. The bar meals are generously served, and cooked to order. The pub is built over the mines that sourced Bath stone:there is much mining memoriabilia in the pub. Brunel's Box Hill tunnel can't be far away. great views over the valley, excellent value.Good pub.

The food is excellent. I tried today to book for Xmas Day and already they are fully booked. So disappointed. The view is breath- taking. phil archer
