Rose and Crown Inn, Allgreaveback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Situated in a fairly barren and windswept location high on the moors. It was a perfect place to go to during Storm Jorge. With just 2 other couples (both diners) in, it was quiet. But the atmosphere was cosy. Service took a while. There was a choice of 3 ales - Wincle Waller, RedWillow Feckless & Jenning's Cumberland Ale. I opted for the Waller. But I would have preferred a dark beer or a cider. Still a decent place though.

Due to reopen soon, having been bought by Ian and Luda from the Hanging Gate nearby. Will be interesting to see how it fares as a free house.

I went here for the first time today and I was hugely impressed by it . The landlord was so helpful, welcoming and understanding. The views are outstanding, Chehsire at its' finest. The beer garden is lovely. The pub is very clean.
I want to return and try the food. It smelt very good !!

Isolated pub, nothing else nearby really. Stunning location with sweeping views down to the valley below and the hills beyond. Yes, the front door does open almost directly onto the road, but it's not exactly the M6 outside in terms of throughflow. A few car park spaces either side of the pub , but a big grassed overflow area on a terrace up a hairpin bend to the right of the building. Robinsons house, beer reasonable, but not outstanding. Friendly welcome, although a group of young lads on racing bikes had a spot of bother when it came to trying to pay for their coffees and sandwiches by card, only to be told "we can't take cards at the moment" - surely they should have been informed of that when ordering? Don't know if/when it ever gets busy, but a decent pit-stop when on a tour of the stunning landscapes aroundabout.

Stumbled across this gem whilst driving in the Peaks. What a llocation! Incredible views over the valley, great pint of Unicorn, lovely sandwich (bit pricey, I thought). Cozt pub, great beer garden. See that they do Folk Nights here - worth the drive from Mansfield Highly recommended

Changed hands 8 weeks ago. Tried it yesterday lunchtime in group of twelve. Good food, friendly new host and cook, beer OK (new barrel), fine view.

A sad old pub in chronic decline. It's location suggests dramatic scenary, which is without doubt impressive, however the place literally opens it's front door to a major road. We ate tinned soup and disgusting toasted sandwiches in the saloon bar, which failed to warm up during the time spent there, despite the presence of numerous radiators and an open fire. To suggest the only ale on ofer was real is an understatement.
