please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Note for some reason 2 entries on this site for the same pub... Anyway, the new bar is open after renovation (mid August 2009) and is modern but quite cozy and very pleasant. Not especially busy, but beer (ale) was good, they have lots of different bottled lagers (if that's your thing) and they had a strong cider on tap. Staff good. Slightly lacking in character, perhaps, but basically a sound offering. Didn't have any food so can't comment on that.

This bar is sadly dead. Now shut, walls knocked through and becoming a "bistro". Hotel itself a complete and utter dump. Grimy, terrible customer service, avoid at all costs. Better to drink a can of Fosters in the middle of the M25.

Went walking around IOW for the weekend, and stopped here for lunch. The Fat Cat bar looks like its been shut down for a while, but the associated Sandpipers hotel bar was open. Great selection of real ales, and decent outside area to enjoy the weather. The only let down was that we ordered filled baguettes, which cost about 5.50 - these took over half an hour to arrive, and then were poorly filled sandwiches rather than baguettes - very disappointing, and not value for money. 8/10 for the beer, but 4/10 for the food, so a 6/10 overall.

This place is starting to feel really run down. Probably just a sign of the times....

Great selection beers & Ciders (if yer brave enough) & staff were ceerfull. Still worth a lookup.

This tries to be all things to all people but is too small to carry it off successfully. We stayed at the adjacent hotel and I get the impression that the whole place is in financial trouble trying to run on a shoestring. Although the food in the restaurant was good, service left a lot to be desired with inexperienced staff being left to cope on their own with apparently litte instruction. The three areas of the bar were just too close to each other to cater for different user needs and I can well understand some of the comments above. Although the beer was kept in good condition, there seemed to be a dominance of heavy, dark, strong ales - not what you want on hot summers days and will not tempt the lager drinkers on to real ale.

Good beer, very child tolerant, homely facilities, nice games room away from the bar and attached to a very reasonably priced restaurant and we are just visitors!

Must have been a bad evening - the bar was filled with locals who obviously had imbibed a drop too much, accompanied by loud, foul language unchecked by the bar staff. Felt unwelcome and very disappointed - won't go again. Fine range of guest beers though.

First visit to this pub was for their 2004 beer festival and to visit friends, what a great place, cannot recommend it highly enough. Food is very good and the beer even better, the festival went brilliantly. Congratulations to all staff.

Tacked onto the back of a bay hotel, this pub had a friendly 'rugby club' feel to me. A tiny bar, plus a games area with pool and darts serve good quality cask ales and Belgian lagers. We drank out on the patio area, which was perfect for an early summer evening. Voted 9
