Went on saturday to have pint as we always do before going to Selhurst Park ,only to find it closed, a notice on the door said closed temporally, and a TO LET sign on the wall . A pity as we have always found it very friendly with o good pint of Youngs, A bit more that can be said for some of the other pubs nearby

Went in here on a Thursday evening. Not many people in and poker being played in the back. The Youngs Special i had was awful.
|
Went in at lunchtime on Christmas Eve for the first time in a long while. Very impressed by the trouble the barman took to ensure the Young's bitter was on top form. It was obviously the first out of the cask, and he took repeated samples to check the quality before pulling my pint. The pint was excellent.

A friendly enough locals place which gets rather busy before matches at Crystal Palace. Could really do with a few more bar staff working before the game, as people were waiting 15 minutes or more for service.

Shoot me down in flames for drink coke in a pub but 3 a pint is scandalous. I checked to make sure I'd been given the correct change from a fiver and the barman announced "I don't make the rules" as though Al Murray was a role model rather than a parody. Sad, really sad.

Youngs pub but feels like a Wetherspoons in the large back bar. OK, I was in before football yesterday which would explain the plastic glasses but only Ordinary was available. Just about ok for a pre match pint and at least it wasn't a fight to get served but not really very good.

nice place well run, good pint served, locals ok, just prop up the bar chatting about usual bloke stuff.

This is only a pub I go too when I am meeting someone last minute when I get off the train from work. bar staff are alright and not too noisy in the week. locals usually propped up on the bar and are harmless!

Well, it looks like I have the honour of being the first to post a comment on this pub, which is quite surprising as it's located on a busy road near the centre of Thornton Heath, quite close to the station. Its one of 3 Youngs pubs in Thornton Heath. It has quite a traditional feel to it, but with a mix of different styles and colours creating distinctively different areas in the two adjoining bars. " Quality food" was advertised on a sign on the wall outside, but there was no sign of any menus or food inside - just friendly locals chatting away over their Sunday lunchtime pints. I suppose I'm going to be crucified by the PC brigade for saying this, but, in common with other Multicultural areas of South London, Thornton Heath has that rather down at heel and slightly menacing feel to it, where eye contact is to be avoided if possible. The Railway Telegraph is however a friendly, yet unremarkable pub and, because of its proximity to the Railway Station, is a good point to start or finish any crawl of the area.
