ok service, and pleasent enough. But has that strange interior that reminded me of a Berni Inn (anyone remember those!?)
outrageous prices: Shandy �3.65, coke �2.30.... doubt I'll bother going back, as it's not the best pub in the area, yet seems to cost a lot more. I was just being lazy in not being bothered to walk to them from my office :)

Excellent pub - was here last night, staff were friendly, food was great and the range of draught ales to die for.
Highly recommend this one!

I've been in about six times over the last two years. Jaw-droppingly pricey. �3.60 for a pint of Strongbow! My mate got his bag nicked in here last night.

Must confirm that the beers are well kept in here. Had a nice pint there last week. Pub's decor is a bit weird though as its trying to be classic inside, but in view of the newness of the Paternoster Square area it probably would have been better woth a modern interior.

The price of drinks in here is now bordering on the ridiculous. It is an amiable place, and sufficiently well staffed to cope with the busiest of periods so there's not too much waiting around at the bar, but why would you bother anymore when you can go to some of the off-piste boozers in the area like the White Horse or Lord Raglan and not walk away thinking you have just been robbed.

Quick visit yesterday. Beer was well kept, and a nice atmosphere. Menu was quite large although I didn't try anything. Only downside seemed to be the price of other drinks, a VAT cost �7!

Visited for mid-week lunch. Youngs was well kept, food from the extensive menu good (as you would hope with City pub prices of ~�8 a head) and service attentive and friendly. Overall very pleasant - would visit again.

Looks like a All Bar One from the outside (not a bad thing), but with a full range of draught (Youngs/Wells) beer. As other say, oddles of seating, including spare chairs if needed.
Foodwise is pricy and gastro in style. The platter appeared on a mix of soup plates - tasty, just not presented as we may have expected.
Beer all seemed well kept, including Honeydew and the Summer Solstice (well, we had to work our way thru to check, didn't we!). Good selection of wine too, in the not silly wine bar prices. So can keep tht side happy do.
Only downside, is the smoking area being right by the bar - yet there were signs on the bar saying not to smoke there. Weird. Didn't help that people were just smoking elsewhere in the place, which the staff did not seem to care/worry about. However, that is soon to no longer be an issue.

I think this is a great "City" pub. It's external appearance and the internal open plan layout might not look great on first impression, but actually it's fairly lively, decent atmosphere, excellent friendly staff, plenty of seating. Decent beer and a reasonable choice of wine for a pub of this type. The one downside I have is the food. The sharing platters are great although a little expensive. Bu the mains are gastro-pub prices for definitely non-gastro fare.

Located opposite St paul's Seriously good lunchtime venue for anyone in the city. First class service which i cannot fault at all. Superb beers and largers kept very well. Hard to find a place to beat it. Pricey but well worth it. Organic, free range and wild foods through out the menu. Just plain perfect.

I had been intending to visit this place for some time after reading in the profile above that it had full disabled access. I finally got there on Saturday and I wasn't disappointed. It's open at the weekend but closes early so I was limited to two pints of Special: both were superb, and if the merger/takeover of Youngs by Charles Wells is having a detrimental effect on the quality of ale supplied to some places this is not one of them.
This is not so much a refurbishment as a total rebuild of a previous Youngs pub which stood on this site. From outside it can appear rather modernist, with big windows facing directly onto the main road or the alleyway leading to Paternoster Square. But venture inside and it's a welcoming place, helped by friendly and competent staff. In fact, the section away from the windows is nicely furnished with old-style leather settees. Others have mentioned the food: I didn't think it looked like gastro fare, but maybe it is a little pricier than normal. I was interested to note they do a baguette full of hot roast beef.
I was there on a quiet Saturday afternoon. I can't say what it would be like during the week, but it would be a shame if the atmosphere then is spoiled by too many loud suits. As it was, I really enjoyed the beer and the music - good stuff, just loud enough to hear and recognise - and was grateful for a fully accessible pub that is not a Wetherspoons. In the troubled times we live in there are few certainties: but I reckon I'll be spending a lot more time in here and trying that beef baguette pretty soon.

Very touristy of course (and open-plan) but OK for a decent pint of Youngs.

spent a while here due to convenience more than anything else. Being a city pub, was full of suits, but that didn't make much of a difference. as a youngs pub it is pretty standard. pint was drinkable, if a little expensive.

A bit corporate and soulless. Expensive food but I've not eaten here so it could be worth it. Nice pictures of London on the stairs down to the lavatories.

The bottle of Kew Brew was superb.

Called in one lunch time but didn't fancy �10+ for bar food - didn't stay and the smell of fried fat at the bus stop outside is just as off puting.
Nothing like the old Master Gunner that this Youngs house replaces
