user reviews of the Eagle, Amersham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

great pub, with low ceiling and wooden beams and various areas to choose to sit in. service is great, and the unexpected garden area is great in the summer. usually our last stop on crawl in old amersham, but thats due to geography (being at the far end of the road) as opposed to quailty. much like amersham in general, it can be heaving or litterally empty.

Good mid-priced food at lunchtime (not in the evening, though). A good choice of real ales - last time I was here it was London Pride, Doombar and Landlord. Altogether much better than the score here might suggest.

The best Sunday Roast in Amersham by far. A bigger choice of Ales would have been nice, but it is compensated by two excellent ciders. Well worth a trip out of London. I'll be back!

A better pub than the King's Head down the road. The pub looked very welcoming with plenty of hanging baskets on the exterior. Bombardier and London Pride were the two real ales on offer. Addlestones cider was also served.

The Eagle has just been refurbished (April 2009) and we hope that you will visit us and judge for yourselves regarding our efforts. We have a new chef (Andy) who serves traditional pub food and an excellent Sunday Roast with home-made puddings.

Our staff are welcoming and friendly and along with a pretty rear garden we hope we have all the right ingredients to make your visit an enjoyable one. We are having a music/barbeque evening on the 30th May 2009 - do come and see for yourselves.

Looking forward to your comments. Rod Walker (Licencee)

Stopped by while passing through on a Sunday afternoon - fine though looks like it's suffered at the hands of the refurbishers. Beer OK. Worth a look but there are better pubs around here.

i agree with below - fantastic pub during the day & week-nights, but come friday & saturday evening, the local chavs fill the place up with reekbok classics & their tarted up 12 year old girlfriends. if only the bouncer did his job properly instead of making friends with the under-age drinkers....

Having been back recently, I'd have to lower my score slightly due to the 'Surly' barmaid we encounted. If it was just myself then I wouldn't have created this post - however three of us were unhappy about the service we were given. I've reduced my rating by 6 points.

Beer good, atmosphere excellent, food and service outstanding. Can't believe average rating only 6.7 - sending this in to help pull it up!

I agree with Jo's comments.

A lovely old pub. The staff are excellent, and the quality of ales is superb

Very old pub, low ceilings, fireplace, beams - the works. Nice beer garden backing onto a cricket ground. Favourite congregating point for 'returning' locals. Be prepared for standing room only.
