Very average Wetherspoons just like all the rest. Cheap beer with the best on offer being Cotleigh Old Buzzard. As is normal with these places, full of people with an alcohol problem.

Visited Thursday 17th Sept 2015..............we love Wetherspoon pubs, especially walking to the bar and seeing what real ales are on offer, usually something different than the norm, however the beers on offer here were VERY disappointing !! There were NO guest beers and the only ales on offer were the rather boring Doombar, Abbot and Ruddles Best. We'll certainly not be coming back here in a hurry.

We went there for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon in August. There was the usual Wetherspoons crowd of very young and very old drinkers who'd had plenty, as well as a sprinkling of other guests. The food was very good, especially the chips. I cannot understand how they can serve food at those prices: I had a wrap and a soft drink which when purchased as part of the special, were less than half the cost they would have been had I purchased them individually. I know that there is a mark-up in pubs, but that is ridiculous!

Opened plan place like an airport lounge. Guys this is a wetherspoons pub for these prices bad comments are not aloud. Food is always a risk at these places but just go there for a drink and you just cannot complain. I love wetherspoons.
10/10

Have visited a number of times in the past few years for lunch and found it to be an above average Wetherspoons. The only problem to report is that quite often there is only one person serving whilst the others deliver food, clear tables or have a chat. I cannot comment on what it is like in the evening but I hope they have more staff serving behind the bar. The Abbott is always good but taken off during the beer festivals because it is too popular and no one will try the guest ales. Other Wetherspoons do not push the guest ales (some of which are undrinkable......chocolate beer????) like this hence I do not use it during festivals.

Rather Drab, but in line with all other cloned pubs, does offer a good selection of real ales and ciders to sample, and staff extreamly friendly but overworked under pressure to keep up with business. Tables could be cleaner and more staff behind bar who are fully versed with till, maybe, Would have like just one person taking drinks orders only, slow to serve we had a half hour wait for two beers while other people ordered food, bit frustrating as we only dropped in for a a quick drink and were on our way out somewhere else.

I must be honest. I have only been here twice. I did not think it worthwhile to comment. OK?

Qiuck to be served.Cheap microwave food. Only come in as it's on the way to Chesil Beach and I get something more than promised fish.

Gawd 'elp us. this place really is the pits an no mistake.

Undoubtedly one of the less impressive 'spoons although it's not excessively bad during daylight hours. After dark however, when the dross of Chard come out to play, it's a different matter - but, then, Chard itself after dark is a place best avoided.

My God, this place is dire. I know it's a weatherspoons pub but even so. Its current rating of 1/10 is too generous. It should be minus 1. Isn't it about time someone tried to kill tim martin for what hes done to the townscapes of britain?

I aint surprised about the comments on the food being so bad. I got a job here once, I was supposed to be working in the bar but they put me in the kitchen cos no one else wanted to work there. Id never done any cooking before in my life but before long I was in charge of the kitchen. some of the food looked ok but most was just crap although lots of got eaten, id never touch it in a million years, wouldnt even feed it to my dog it was that bad my dog wouldnt eat it anyway

The strange thing is that although I (see below) did not give this pub a score after leaving my report, the pubs score went up from 1.5 to 1.8.

Just out of curiosity I have looked at the ratings for all of the wetherspoon pubs, looking for the one with the lowest score. Well, at 1.5/10 this is it. Congratulation Chard, I guess you must have done something terrible to deserve this place.

It's difficult to say anything good about this pub. Even by wetherspoons standards it's bad, and that's saying something. It's hard to figure out how it managed to get 2/10. It really deserves a minus score, but I guess I'll give it a totally undeserved 0, just to express my contempt for this shitty little pub

The previous two reviews of this pub are wrong. It is far worse than either of them have descibed. It used to be a good hardware shop and before that a good cinama, but it's a piss poor pub now. Why is it that Bristish people liked being ripped off by these places so much?

On fathers day I took my wheelchaied father for a Sunday roast at 2.30pm. After being advised that Chicken or Beef was the choice, we were advised on ordering that there were no Sunday roast left that day, despite the menu saying that roast dinners were available until 9:00pm. What followed was a disastor with numerous items from the menu not available. I am a frequent vistor to this pub, which has a good selection of beers at good prices. But always a slow & terrible service!!

Yesterday, early evening we went to spoons at Chard. We had been four times before, with only one of these visits being a good meal.On one visit my wife had roast choicken with solid ice in the middle. Last night we sat at a tible for some 15 mins to decide what we would have to eat, we decided on Sunday Roasyt which from the menu was available for a further three hours, it was a Sunday. I go the the bar and ask for three Roast Beef lunches and three Roast Chicken lunches, the unsmiling Barmaid said they were not available. Back to out table, fifteen minutes later, afdter deciding on fie mixed grills, and one Chichen Melt, bnack to the Bar, same unsmiler, she said there were no mixed grills because they did not have any gamon, no Chicken Melts for the same reason. Back for the third time to our table, non of us were getting any happier, spoons could not provide an alternative for the gammon. We decided on other items. Five of the meals were good wife said she would have the Chicken Melts without the gammon. It was one of the worst meals she had ever had, the Chicken was so small, and so hard reallu uneatable, and one of the modst expensive of the evening. After the problems, we did not complain. Why could not the bar maid been more helpfull, and at least have alittle smile. This was Sunday 18th Jul.
