I can only echo the previous review. This is a nice community-owned pub at the eastern end of Bourne End. There is a single bar and on my visit there was a good mixture of customers. A friendly dog made himself next to me, whilst I supped my half (I was driving) of the seasonal Rebellion Top Gun. The other 2 ales were Rebellion IPA & Greene King Abbot Reserve. That concludes my year of pub reviewing. It wasn't quite my final pub. I saved the best of this visit to Bucks until last, with a visit to the fabulous KEG Craft Beer Tasting Bar in the centre of Bourne End. It's not listed on here (surprise surprise). But, I thoroughly recommend it. Wishing all BITE reviewers/readers a Happy New Year....

Friendly and welcoming community-owned local in tiny Hedsor village just outside Bourne End. Three ales offered – the Rebellion Ankle Tap was spot-on – and the little touches – the open fire, dartboard and general village pub ambience – made a great start to a Wednesday night pub crawl.

And they have done ! They managed to raise most of the £400K needed and have now purchased the pub from Punch Taverns. Saves another one from becoming a private house.

With just 4 reviews this year and nothing otherwise since 2006, ho w has this pub achieved a rating of 8.1 and gone from nowhere to number 1 in the top 40?
I haven't rated it because I've never been there, I just think the system is a load of crap

Great atmosphere, nice pint

Good 'local' pub, three beers usually from the likes of GK, Adnams or Fullers. Probably the best pub in Bourne End.

This pub has improved recently. Good range of ales, and a landlord that seems to be interested in them. The food blackboards look good too.
One of the better pubs in Bourne End.

This place used to be rubbish, dirty and smelly but had a minor refit and got a very good landlord in the aforesaid Irishman, and became an excellent local. Sadly he has now moved on, but the standards haven't slipped far
A 6/10. Not bad for Bourne End which really needs a decent pub

Open plan, turn of the century pub featuring well kept Adnams and Abbot Ale. Relaxed atmosphere encouraged by the welcoming landlord who pours a mean guinness (a Dublin man). Open log fire and various freshly cooked evening meals are available. I have often been sustained by the excellent roast beef baguette, but ask them to go easy on the horseradish. Various literary and historical quotes will keep you amused in the Gents (if needed) whilst the locals will be happy to engage you on any topic you like at the bijou bar. A great local in a village that sorely needs a pub of character and genuine bonhomie.
