proper old school alehouse with bar and other half. Popular with smokers (though they have to go out front) and gamblers (slips from all local bookies available at bar). The quite reasonable pint of Bushy's bitter was only £2-50 though the locals seemed to prefer paying more for cans of Carling (there's a cup for the used ring pulls.)

Tiny two room pub that oozes character. The bars are equally small. Conversation is king and seemingly led by the jovial young barman. The rooms only have a partial wall. So you can even chat with people in the other room. Has some great old copper or brass-topped tables (I'm not too well up on my metals!). You can even lock your mates in the gents, as it has a bolt on the outside. Mind your head too! Bushy's Manx Bitter & Old Bushy Tail were the ales. Great pub, if you like yours traditional.

Weve just come back from a week in Douglas whilst over for the TT. The Old Market Inn is a fascinating pub which cant have changed much in many years and is set just back from the harbour/marina. The front room felt more like a lounge bar and back room more like the public bar with many locals happily drinking in the corridor between the two which had little shelves strategically placed to hold a pint. The tiny bar was perfectly placed to dispense to all areas and served nice and cheap beer. We had friendly chat with everyone we met. Interesting opening hours :)

If you want a pint early on in a no fuss spit and sawdust pub with the most animated punters - look no further, pop in after the best breakfast in Douglas in the Market across the road.

This is a bit, no alot of an old-fashioned boozer, but served a decentish pint.
