Union Hotel, Castletownback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This pub was fairly quiet on a Sunday lunchtime with only 3 or 4 other customers in its large rooms. It is a fairly basic town pub, which doesn't really live up to its title as a 'hotel'. I'm not sure I'd want to stay here. A darts board is located in the main bar, whilst a fruit machine & TV are in a side room. There is also a separate games room. Okells Bitter & Wychwood Hobgoblin were the 2 ales on offer.

Large pub on the square offering Okells Bitter for 2.55 and London Pride. Looked like a locals pub and there were certainly a few characters in there! Large TV screen was showing tennis from Wimbledon - luckily with the sound turned off!

What I would regard as a typical Manx pub. Full of locals during the day, a good mix of regulars and visitors during the evening and perticularly busy at weekends. Some live entertainment - usually local artistes. Friendly atmosphere once inside the pub.
Most major football games are televised and it's home to the "Union Reds" (Liverpool) with a good turn-out by Man Utd fans. Good natured rivalry between supporters of all clubs.
Okells bitter is of a really high standard and worth a try. Always a guest ale worth trying. Purely an ale-house so no food to speak of but always seems to be a good array of baps available.
A no-nonsense pub for grown-ups.

Cracking boozer in town square, lively and friendly atmosphere. Newish publicans Pete and Annie are working very hard to improve the pub and its facilities, which already include good beer! sky sports, pool, snooker, darts, mega juke box and affiliated hockey team.
