This is a very small pub inside, with a cosy feel. But, there was a good selection of 4 ales and 5 ciders. Ales were Firebird Heritage XX, Ringwood Razor Back, Gun Dock American Red & Parkway Ruffled Feathers. All of the ciders were from Weston's - Old Rosie, Rosie's Pig, Rosie's Pig Strawberry, Rosie's Pig Rhubarb & Raspberry Roller. Dog friendly place - watch your step. But, a pub of much character.

Camra do visit - its in the 2018 Guide.
Tiny pub, low ceilings, not much room but a lot crammed in.
A cracking Sunday night atmosphere - with a three piece synth band belting out 80s hits. You had to be there.
Beer in good condition - a seasonal Red Nosed Reinbeer from Cotleigh.
Still has music on (with the band taking up half the bar area) but the ale quality was much improved on this visit.
Nice locasl little pub. sort of pub CAMRA would visit.
A nice pub it is an Island position, very small but perefextly formed, the service and regulars are superb but the beer was very thin for my taste.

For trad pub lovers this is a must visit boozer. Nice atmosphere, friendly owners and regulars, plenty of quaint character, ales tasted perfectly good on my visit. If I lived here I`m sure it would be a regular haunt...probably has a ghost aswell!

the sofas have gone and it more a traditional set up of chairs and tables - unfortunately the ale wasn't very nice and I left half of it.

had a fantastic pint of Dowbridge stout in this wondrous boozer. Joe bonamassa and Rory gallagher on the sound system, and my mate paulie pulling the bloody curtain rail off the wall. a great pub.
Very small town pub with a nice atmosphere. Good selection of real ales. Beer seems to be well kept but only tried one, Elderwytch, which was very nice. There was also a jazz band playing when I visited. Live music regularly on Sat night.

A slightly 'alternative' interior to this historic old pub on one of Rugby's main streets. It's quite small inside and am not really a fan of sofas as a seating option in pubs (they are always too low and it's awkward to find somewhere to perch your pint) but apart from that this place is quite a friendly and amenable hostelry. Seem to have a Marston's tie and the pint of Merrie Monk I had was good. Has music on but not sure how a band would fit in to the space.

Great little pub and well worth a visit.

Hidden treasure, very friendly, great beers, high quality live music on wednesday and saturday nights.

Used to visit this pub years ago when I lived in Rugby. I have had chance to visit again over the past couple of months. Either it's got a lot smaller or I've got a lot fatter. Either way, it remains a high quality venue, despite competition from a few newcomers in recent years. I echo the comments of a previous reviewer regarding the genuine friendliness of the landlady. The beer range is suitably varied but maintains a consistent local presence, particularly Dow Bridge. I look forward to my next trip to Rugby in the new year. Even the drab walk up the hill from the station will be worthwhile.

Small pub, curiously shaped like one of those cut-off wedges of cheese sold in supermarkets. The landlord offered a pleasant welcome, and later on the landlady offered the sort of farewell that sounded like she actually meant it rather than just reciting the company script. Anyway, three real ales on - two from Jennings (which must have got out just before the brewery was flooded) and a tasty pint of Legend from the local Dowbridge Brewery (apparently located somewhere just across the border in Leicestershire).

We went on a Sunday night a few weeks ago, a brilliant lady blues singer was entertaining, the place seemed very friendly. the building itself is very quirky, two real ales on, a local one just ran out so I had Wychwood Bountiful. A quick visit but worth it
Would like to balance my previous review due to two fairly recent encounters in the pub which were less positive
Rather disappointing. Beer "range" non-existent, staff pretty arsey, clientele not particularly friendly. You feel it could be a decent pub if they turned off the horse racing and got some decent beer in. Short measures, to, by the way.
Tiny - but definitely one to squeeze into on any discerning pub crawl of Rugby. Although seemingly tied to Marston's, they always seem to choose some of their more interesting beers to tempt you. Good pub!
An aquired taste but I love it! make me feel all cosy & english! (even of landlady is welsh!) The sort of place you would hate to see close- so go there!!
Small old fashioned no-frills boozer with a friendly feel and several real ales to choose from. My kind of pub.
Little pub big on friendly. Up to five beers, four on when I went mid week.Low roof tall landlord, you wander each time he moves if ? Have one or two here while watching for the bus home!

Enjoyed my visit to this friendly pub. Long single room with a TV at one end and darts at the other.
I agree that this a little gem Little being the operative word. The slightly limeted choice and the expensive prices are however a little off putting.
Excellent little boozer just off the town centre and near to Rugby School. Landlord, landlady and bar staff are very, very friendly and welcoming and the offerings are great and to a superb standard. I enjoyed and will be back.

Lovely interior to this tiny place. I had a reasonable pint of some festive ale (Bateman's I think) which I chose out of the five (I think) on offer.
A true little gem. No good if you are 6ft 6 or more!! Beer selection good considering the size of the pub although very pricey for some guests. 2.60 for a 3.6% mild is a bit OTT.Friendly couple who run the pub make everyone feel friendly.
liked the atmosphere, but the place needs a clean up, and comfy tables...
nice ales and good family athmosphere:)
Small, cosy drinking pub - actually a very good range (good local porter) - very friendly
Good little boozer. Trying hard to get more recognition. The beer choice is still to small and not adventurous enough. Worth a try though.
