My two visits here were the same each time - its packed and deafening! Academy always strikes me as what would happen if Wetherspoons didnt serve food, and had more tables to pack more people in.
Good if you're on a lads or girls night out, otherwise give it a miss.

No Real Ale, nice building, what a waste, didn't stop!

As mentioned this used to be a place of God, not any more is in a den of inequity. Good atmosphere, usally full and thorough door staff when it comes to IDs. Nothing special beer wise but usually worth a visit when in Aber.

There is no real ale here now.

This place was recommended to me for the quality of food. Well a bad mistake, service was very slow on our visit last year. The food was an overpriced small portion and the place lacked atmosphere of any sort. And even worse than all that, there was no MILD.

Converted church that had lain derelict for years - it's stunning to look at and takes your breath away the first couple of times you go in, it is nicely furnished. After that you tend to notice the underlying faults: It's cold downstairs but baking hot upstairs; the beer is nothing special; service at busy times is inconsistent; the church acoustics mean that everything is amplified, so you end up shouting at people across the table instead of talking.
Visit once, but then move on.

Complete dump. May look great the first time around but it doesn't take long for you to feel uncomfortable in an ex holy place. Beer is poor, service lousy (only two bar staff on an avarage busy Sat night) and it always seems to be freezing!!. Unless your a brainless student, avoid...

Not a bad drinker and the Church thing is quite a novelty first time round. Pints not great though.

One of the classiest pubs in Wales. Its converted from a church or something so has stained class windows. Sells an immense slush puppy vodka and if you flirt with the bar staff they give you free drinks!! Especially on your birthday!!
