Now called Langleys. No real ale & not impressed.

Grim, grim, grim. Dodgy atmosphere. Had a quick pint and left.

I haven't been in since September 2008 but I lived in Eastbourne for a year.
The locals were alright - yeah the pub was a bit spit n sawdusty but I didn't get any trouble.
The bar staff were cool, I lived down Pevensey Road at the time so I knew a lot of familiar faces - shame I'm cr*p with names though cos it's been a while since I've seen them!
I haven't been to Eastbourne in ages but if I did, I'd pop in and say hello again!

I think the comment by cranky25 sums it up. This is the kinda spit n sawdust (incidentally used to soak up blood pee and vomit) pub. where the locals feel they could leave their 6 year olds. Which says more about the clientle than this user perhaps realised. As the rest of us would not consider leaving our children in ANY pub. Would like to add I live ABOVE a pub and have rarely had cause to complain about noise. Its a shame as it looks like it could be lovely. from the outside. when its shut. On the plus side the barmaid when I went, was an absolute gem.

There are some really bad pubs in Eastbourne and this one is right up there with the worst. The upholstery is filthy and worn and there are stains running down the window frames that wouldnt look out of place in a condemned kebab house. The barmaid looked shocked to see people she didnt know walk in and the regulars at the bar were transfixed on the tiny old TV set watching the horse racing. I would be surprised if any of them had any money to place any bets as they looked like their giro/pension had been spent drinking the inferior Stella.
There are two ale pumps, one of which was unused and the other was Bass, which was off. Becks Vier, Dry Blackthorn Cider and Guinness were also available. There is a pool table and a dartboard, but these do not make up for this terrible excuse of a pub.
It is a real shame as the building is fantastic and there is an old walkway above the toilets that would have been worth a look, but alas the only good thing about this place is that it rounds up some of the less desirable inhabitants of the area and keeps them away from the general population.

A massive shithole. About 10 yards from where I live and always full of the kind of people you cross over the road to avoid. I find it quite easy to sit outside a pub without shouting at people passing by so why don't they? If you're visiting town don't go in there, walk 100 yards up the road and pop into the Marine, a far nicer pub and without the strange "yokel" people.
