Has recently been refurbished and is now branded as a “Craft Union Free House”. This means nothing as it’s still an Enterprise Inns pub. Very much sports TV orientated with 2 enormous screens dominating the whole place. It’s only small with about 3 or 4 tables, otherwise you have to stand at the bar.
Among the array of keg fonts, there are 2 handpumps, serving Sharps Doom Bar and Atlantic. Obviously I chose the latter, which was nicer than I was expecting.
The sort of place where everyone knows everyone else.

Friendly clientele, friendly staff, juke box, sky sports and a little place out the back to sit or smoke that looks over the river. Only downside not a lot of choice of ale.

Not the best pub I have been in, packed, seats ripped and toilets were a bit smelly. Initial barstaff were fine, although the young lady who took over later on had a bit of an attitude issue. Just because she was reasonably good-looking, it doesnt mean every fella is trying to chat you up! I am sure there is better pubs in Stafford other than this place.

What passes as your average pub these days - open plan, sky sports, blokes drinking (mainly lager). They did have some ales on and the Everard's Tiger was okay but not worth having another.

Very good town centre pub, easily outclassing its nearest rivals. Good food, excellent beer and a grumpy barman. No nonsense, proper pub. They had 4 ales on when I went in and were just putting on a 4th - I think it was Cumberland but wouldn't swear to it. Could do without the tv, though. I didn't try the food but it looked like good value.
I had a pint of Everards Tiger, very well kept and thoroughly enjoyable.
Definitely recommended as part of a Stafford crawl.

Seemed like a friendly place to me. Had a good pint of Tim' Taylor's Landlord...no complaints.

Spent many times here in the early 70s, my mate's dad was the landlord. Good times had sampling Wee McGlen and other drinks in the cellar as kids, ha ha!

Good beer, great food, (food usually ends around 4ish.)The customers are a friendly bunch, there's the usual pub genius, mad footie fan and the piss head, but they're all good natured. Very busy at the weekend and at odd times during the week. Overall a cracking pub in a town that's losing its identity to the big nationals.
