Coalport Tavern, Oakengatesback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Pretty good these days.
Welcoming, they've moved the entrance around so that the pool table fits properly. Still a bit tight for space though.
Decent food. In fact, food is probably the best pub-grub in central Telford.
Beer isn't bad, could be better but the price is good.
Friendly staff too and the toilets are tidy.
Not bad, not great: As far as a selling point goes it's a bog standard drinking den for Footy fans that serves pretty decent food.

Located away from the main real ale epicentre of Oakengates. No real ale to be seen, Karaoke etc suggests that this is not one for the good beer enthusiast

Called in last night as I'd heard it had reopened, so my report of it's potential demise was incorrect. Tap room with dart board & pool table to the left and a lounge area at the back where they have live music on. It was dead when I went in at about 7 with only 2 others in the bar. The landlord Colin was very friendly, but when I asked him why he didn't stock cask ale he told me that he couldn't sell it here! Given that almost all the other pubs in Oakengates do, I couldn't really buy in to that argument. I pointed out that on-one else sold cask Thwaites in the town so it was a potential niche for him. He just said "I like my smooth! Best of luck then mate as the only area of growth recently has been cask ale and I probably won't bother calling again. By the way I had a pint of Guinness, it was just like Guinness, boring.

This place was closed last night at 8 p.m. Has a large board on the wall outside stating what is on each night at the pub. It stops on 20/12. It doesn't look good for this one.
