please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Have been here on numerous occasions and they are always Friday night's when it's rammed.

Not always that easy to get served and can very often be 5 deep at the bar.

Good choice of European Lagers but you pay Canary Wharf prices.

If you want to stand / sit outside and be noticed fight your way to the bar and have a beer...if however you want a decent choice of ales go a few doors along to the Henry Addington, still busy but a better pub.

went here on a thursday night for a quick late drink, never again, the very rude irish manager was on a microphone doing karaoke but spent most of the time sreaming insults at the cutomers, calling people who pay your wages c***s is not my idea of good service

Slow service and a very rude Irish bar manager. The beer garden is good if it's sunny and quiet but this is it's only redeeming feature

when i popped in on my last trip down to the wharf , it took me 20mins to get served and this was only 4pm ish , only had one and went elsewhere as was too packed and too noisy

I once had the dubious pleasure of having to kill half an hour waiting for someone at Canary Wharf and, not knowing the area very well, just happened to see the S&L. Im not a fan of modern plastic pubs especially when they have a no ale policy for no other obvious reason than they presumably can't be arsed to sell anything that involves making an effort, but needs are needs and I needed a pint. The loud interior (both decor and music) was so painful it drove me to the seats outside where I watched the share prices revolving around the dot matrix on the Reuters building above. My share portfolio went down about 200 in the 20 minutes or so that I sat there but it still wasnt as painful as the price of the pint of Guiness. I have since discovered a couple of awful bars in the area that are much better than this.

Why does anyone bother with this dreadful place, even Henry Addingtons round the corner is better than this, at least they do decent beers, although as usual in these sorts of places, you have to ask for your pint to be topped up each time!!!

Went here last year and the bar staff are crap, do they teach them what service is|?

Heineken at 4.50 a pint, is just taking the pee...

I would not go here unless forced to and they were paying..

I once met a guy called Kev. He was about 40, worked on oil rigs and got lots of time off. His hobbies included football, chess and drinking. He told me all about the great pubs in Greenock, his home town. He was a fat chap with a heart of gold.

This is a toss pub.

Noisy, over-priced, soul-less and with the worst bar staff I have ever encountered. Yet, for some reason it's always full to bursting (yet another reason to avoid this hell-hole)

Have to agree with everyone else. This place is not only bad the staff are some of the rudest i have ever come across. The floor staff cleared up drinks of those around us at 11:10pm most had not finished their drinks. they tried to take ours, we obviously said she couldnt have them. Discussion obviously ensued and some of the things that were said include 'you go when i tell you to go not when you want to' or 'i have a life too you know ive been working 6/7 hours' (ahhh bless). when asked for the manager i got a shrug of the sholders and told there wasnt one. I asked for names they wouldnt give me them and a number to contact head office ...again not given (have something to hide me thinks) By the time he eventually appeared he talked over me didnt want to listen to the actual problem and the whole time the guy who had earlier told me that he had a life too was smirking over his shoulder. Congratulations Slug and Lettuce on hiring such dreadful staff. Avoid at all costs

This place is dreadful. Bar staff slow. Floor stuff rude and considering the fact it was quiet and there were a lot of staff on, the floor was covered in cigarettes, tables were dirty and full of empty glasses and the toilets smelt like the previous nights vomit. To top it off the lager had white stuff floating in it. I valued my life to much to dare to try the food. Would loved to have said something to the manager but didnt see one whole time i was there. Is a shame as the usual slug i visit in wardour street is brilliant. maybe they could send the manager of that one round to fix this one
If this was the last pub on earth id rather be teetotal

ive recently started working in the area and tried it it out service ws slow and slime wouldnt have hurt, the food (scampi) wasnt fantastic, and having people walking past me to the toilets every 5 seconds didnt, over all expensive and ill search a bit further

Very expensive, cramped layout and moody bar staff. There is a toilet assistant every night, who expects you to pay him a quid each time you need a p*ss. Rubbish Pub, go to one of the many others round here

Horrible place, takes an age to get served unless you look like Claudia Schiffer, in which case the male bar staff will make a beeline for you and ignore anyone else waiting. Expensive, noisy and horrendous seating arrangement. Plus looking very shabby in places.

You work for "a rival company in the area" - presumably another chain bar - possibly All Bar One. Yes.

This place is awful. Awful awful awful.

having worked for a rival company in the area, was always dubious and critical of the place, but to my suprise all the managers are great, friendly and accomodating and the staff, although some exceptions, are polite and helpful.
also having been refurbed in the past few weeks, and introducing Peroni on draught, well worth a sneeky lunchtime pint!

Poor attempt at a pub.

Drinks are expensive, service not very friendly, food very average but atmosphere was not bad

Just what you'd expect - noisy & expensive. Don't think I'll bother again.

Had a lovely christmas office lunch there! food was great, service was great and all for the princely sum of 20 a head for 3 courses! (not including drinks) It definately surpassed our expectations.

I tried the food on 23 June 2003 and it was horrible. Their couscous and chicken salad was served with mayonnaise instead of crme fraiche (as advertised on the menu) and without any coriander (as per the menu). The couscous was lumpy and dry.
I do not recommend the food at all.

Typical Slug & Lettuce chain pub, expensive beer (3.10 for Stella) which admittedly is common for the area. Usually very crowded with some mad town planner obviously doing the interior seating arrangements, however during the summer much use is made of outside seating where you can listen to the braying of neabry bankers drinking in Smolenksy's which faces it. Good food menu though, which is one of it's few saving graces.
