please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Lots of previous reviews resonate with me regarding ABYSMAL level of service. I abandoned this place in 2005, having gave its management the benefit of my '3 strikes and your out' policy regarding pub service. Obviously the SAME issues exist now as did back then, ignorant staff, stupid managers, oppressive doormen, all of which result in ABYSMAL SERVICE! I, foolishly may I say, once stood for over 20 minutes for a drink as I was ignored and 'passed over in favour of bar staff's friends and family, when I complained I was ignored. This continued to be the presentation whenever I went in the pub. On more than one occasion we were told to ' do our talking as I was walking' by the doormen 20 minutes BEFORE last orders on a quiet evening during the week, our assumption was they had other places to be, eg working at a nightclub, and were keen to get rid of us to facilitate same! This happened on two occasions and there were no other reason why they would want us out, as we were NOT drunk, quarrelsome or disorderly! The straw that broke the proverbial was when one evening during the week I went in and approached the bar, two barstaff were standing unoccupied, there was only one other person at the bar, so quiet was it. I was asked by one of the barstaff for my order and pint of Stela was my reply. The barman said 'no bother' and appeared to search for a glass, he then disappeared into the back of the bar service area. Approximately 4 minutes elapsed during which time I assumed he had went to change the barrel or something, where upon my supposed 'servee' emerged from the back room with a clot and a container of surface cleaner and proceeded to start cleaning the tops of dirty tables. I approached the same 'servee' and asked him where my pint of Stella was, to which he replied 'sorry mate, I forgot'...I truly wish this was fiction, but alas not! I have numerous other examples of 'fun' experienced in that place, too many to go into here...BEWARE of that place, by ALL accounts it hasn't changed, I am just pleased I elected not to wear the Whetherspoon's Victim Bandana at an early stage!

I have frequented Wetherspoons many times over the last few years and find it to be a family friendly place to have a meal.
Staff are friendly and polite, the food is good and the beer is reasonably priced. Always a nice atmosphere and welcoming.

I would advise people not to listen to a review obviously posted by somebody with a vendetta. Perhaps "eyes" you should invest in a dictionary and spend your time reading it rather than verbally attacking people online, as your spelling is somewhat atrocious.

This used to be a good real ale pub, but has been let down by the poor selection over the last 18 months. Very few local micro's are featured in lieu of Greene King regulars. You often find that over a weekend beers are not changed very quickly and you find most beers are off!. For some reason with this weatherspoons they don't/refuse to stock the bottled ciders that they advertise? Magners being the only cider stocked - no Bulmers or Westons?

It a shame but this pub is well below the Weatherspoon standards

I am a local resident of consett who frequently visits company row for meals with my young family, the staff are helpful and geniune they also monitor alcohol intake of parents whilst in care of children. Only good for the community.

USED TO BE A NICE FRIENDLY place to go nd have great food nd nice company,,when stevie louis had run the pub since that time i HAVE noticed the staff are very rude and iggnorant,,the new manager shelly hobbs is very rude towards children nd old people and doesnt like to be critsied when told the faults of the pub,,her self and the staff muck about nd leave customers standing for ova 20mins,,im on the understanding that weather spoons have a rule of 2mins...in which to serve customers,,or they have to give them a free drink,,,mr anthony ?? area manager doesnt seem to pick up on this as they are more than prepared for when he is comein to visit the pub she has the staff which she befriends outside the pub working for her...its has gone down hill in the past 3years and i refuse to take my family there,,we can get served and have a nicer enviroment in the quay side bar...in which they cope extreamly well under pressure....even though ALL weatherspoons are suppost to be family friendly,,in which this case COMPANY ROW CONSETT IS NOT AND WONT EVER BE UNLESS THE MANAGER GETS A KICK UP THE BACKSIDE ND LEARNS SOME MANNERS.

The beer is cheap and ok, the food is cheap and ok. The downside :- its like drinking in an aircraft hanger.

Great if you don't mind waiting half an hour to be served anytime from Thurdays and over the weekend as bar staff couldn't give two hoots who's next unless you get a supervisor serving - mind you, if you were on minimum wage, would you care?

Prices aren't all that cheap really, have started to catch up with the other trendy bars in the area - if you're simply looking for a cheap drink...you could do a lot better really.

Curry Club can be OK, but turn up early.

Variety of popular drinks runs out over the weekend on occasion, so make this bar your first port of call if you really want to bear the openness of the place.

Overall, wouldn't really want to recommned it... Weatherspoons really has lost the ethos of good old fashioned, cheap boozers and gone down the route of only stocking branded spirits wines and beers. pity. great biz idea, gone horribly wrong. Still, Yate's bar still has a chance to takeover over the road.

the only family pub that actually doesnt like familys.
lets hide the mothers in the corners, and if you smoke and are a parent, go somewhere else..

but on another note the dark depressing uniforms go well with the staffs personalaties..
