This pub closed down, then it became a gastro pub this has now closed down - which is a pity as it was somewhere to take friends who don't like pubs... if you know what I mean. Food was a bit over priced. Hence the place has now closed again.
Currently empty and the decorators are in and have said it will return as an Indian Restaurant - sounds good but will they serve a decent pint!

is it really closed down? used to drink regulary there in the 80s when jim was landlord was always busy and no trouble what a shame

Now closed indefinitely. Shame - the building has real character and should have been a good pub but I feel was probably let down by the clientele and management.

You don't feel safe in here. I thought give it another go so walked in ...and walked straight back out again - it's such a shame as this is surely the thorn between the two roses - The Red Lion and The Prince Frederik. If you value your beer head for The Red Lion or The Freelands. I give it one point in the rating - for keeping the lager drinking, tracky mob out of the decent boozers.

have read the messages on the notice board and totally disagree. for a start they don't sell carlsberg, secondly the manager doesn't drink and thirdly she has done a great job cleaning the place up from trouble

Worst pub i have ever had the misfortune to drink in.
Manager outragously loud and normally had a drink or two - finishes every night with a fight
Fights every friday and saturday night and lots of undiserables.

Went in there once. Carlsberg 1.70 a pint. Lots of Games machines/Dart Board/Pool table. Gets a bit busy Friday/Saturday Nights
